No guarantees, but could you try SETUP, then 8888, then the >>l (next) key : does a menu called VERSION appear ? If so, go down to it, and you may be able to alter the region setting by using the arrow keys. Once set to zero, press SETUP.

Lemme know if it works- I`m not holding my breath, but we may be lucky...

Incidentally, could you confirm what it says on the backplate - the first, say, four digits of the serial number. Does it say Made in China, Made in Japan or Made in UK ?

If China, it may just be another Sampo-built Sharp player, which means it may be hackable :-)

Clayts, I have the Sharp SD-AT50 home cinema system and the DVD player with it is the DX-AT50, on the bottom it says "Made in China". Any chance this is a Sampo clone??? The first four digits of the serial number are 2090.

This is sounding more and more like a Sampo player.

I need a brave soul to unplug the player, take all the screws out and take some close ups of the components, particularly the green processor board (I need to be able to read the component part numbers).

If you can`t take a photo it would still be very helpful if you could also note down all the components on the green processor board. In addition, any labels or manufacturer`s name tags on the DVD loader would be extremely helpful.

e-mail me at styalc[at]moc.054aera if you have some photos.
