More Wharfy 750s problems......!

FantaC (Competent) posted this on Friday, 19th January 2001, 22:41

Hi all,

Just thinking of buying `Maybe Baby` R2 for my parents but before buying it I rented it first! I found out that the film works alright but the special features don`t work. I thought the point of having DVD`s is to watch the extra features which come as part of the disc. I know what some of you are going to say, `There`s also the superior sound quality and picture quality`. Yes, but the extra features also come into play.

I have also had problems with `X-men` R1, `The Patriot` (Special Features), Spaceballs R1 (it won`t play using the play option in the menu, I have to press PLAY, STOP then PLAY again before the film will play. I have also had problems with the special features)

I might as well buy the video, what would happen if their was a VHS video tape that wouldn`t work in your home video player?

I am having problems deciding whether or not to take it back to Tesco`s and get the LG 3000e that they are now selling for £169.99!

I have tried all the mentioned discs on my brothers DVD player (Philips 710, with the RC6 hack) and they all work without any problems whatsoever

Can anyone advise?

Regards

Oh no I`ve got a 750s and i`ve got X-men on order :-(
In addition to the above the new Beastie Boys Video Anthology which is region 0 won`t play any of the new angles or re-mixes.

You could try ringing the Tesco helpline they gave me the runaround with my disc as they say they`ll only support region 2 discs. But if Maybe Baby is region 2 they might pull their finger out.

I`ve only had the player 2 weeks and after all the rave reviews i`m pretty dsillusioned with it. I`m thinking about taking it back but I haven`t decided wether to get another one or give up on DVD until manufacturers can get it right.

Spend £200ish on a player and have less problems. But you wouldn`t know because you purchased a player from a SUPERMARKET. I personaly leave this type of store fore my groceries.

X-Men R1 plays fine on my 750s. It`s a fantastic quality disc. All the special features play even the spiderman easter egg..........

Thanks for the reply`s,

I have decided to take it back and get the new Philips 751 from Comet! Philips are an excellent make as virtually everything else I own is Philips. I chose the Wharfedale because of all those rave reviews, but it wasn`t 2 B.
