As a satisfied customer of dvdchips.co.uk I must recommend the service as they chiped my JVC-XV522 (same as yours but in Silver). Do the DIY only if your a soldering expert as the chip to remove is tiny and surface mount. I had a go but had to send it in before I did too much damage. The choice is yours ?

I too would recomend that a company such as DVDChips does your upgrade. Unless you have a retailer on your high street that will do it for you for a reasonable fee (Don`t bother the big boys ie Dixons / Comet).

I am slightly biased as I supplied the original 521/522/523 and also fit DVDChips upgrades on a localised basis.
