Help! My Philips 711 is locked-up!

Oliver Wichmann (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 23rd October 2000, 21:30

After following the region hack for the Philips 711, it played Region 1 without trouble, but when I changed it back to R2 it locked-up.

The disc gets loaded, read and then the whole thing hangs. Power switch and eject don`t work. The only remedy is to pull the power cord, disc will then eject, but still not play.

Any ideas anyone?

BTW, after entering the hack codes, my screen goes blue not red. Is this an updated unit?

This is my first attempt at hacking, maybe I`ve missed something obvious?

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

I experienced the same exact thing after entering a code that supposedly should reset the player (including the 25 times counter). I tried to leave the player unplugged from the wall socket for a couple of days in hope that the player may revert back to factory settings. Of course it did not, after which I took the player back to the store where I bought it (since it was indeed under warranty). They in their turn sent in the player to the repair center (the main Philips authorized repair centre in Sweden), and lo and behold, what I thought was a simple case of just resetting the EEPROM or something like that was not at all like that. The entire mechanical part of the player has to be replaced!

Amir S,

Thanks for the code, it did the trick! Player is now back to normal. Does this reset the 25 times counter as well?

Thanks again
Oliver

the answer is NO! this code only solve problems...
to reset the 25 times counter you must instal mod.chip.
ask for steve (from:dvd chips) -in this forum to buy it.
