New Samsung M105 - Do any remote hacks work?

barneyh (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 25th February 2002, 18:05

Just bought a new M105. All hacks I`ve seen start with "cold start" (play and stop held down) this doesn`t do anything. Have tried both 38767 and 57538 codes, again with no effect. Any tips? Thanks,
B

May be an unhackable firmware version (e.g. 5.02E).

BTW you need to hold the Play and Stop buttons on the player itself, not the remote control.

If Repeat doesn`t work try REPEAT A-B, followed by SUBTITLE, 5, 7, 5, 3, 8. A guy posted a while back that this worked on newer versions.

Check your firmware Andy! You may have an unhackable version. You just need to remove the 3 screws at the back of the player, lift off the lid, and take a look at the label on the chip in the back right corner.

If you do have an unhackable firmware (5.02E and 5.02Da are unhackable), you can simply upgrade to a hackable version such as 5.02Ee. My firmware FAQ at: http://www.709firmware.fsnet.co.uk/faq.html explains how you can do this upgrade for free (provided you can borrow/have access to the right equipment) - you most definitely *do not* have to pay £75.00!!!

I`ve just bought a new samsung M105. Having read this thread, I opened up the player to check which firmware i had. It`s a 5.02E8. which isn`t mentioned here at all.

Any ideas which hack I can use for this? If any?

Cheers

You can get a firmware update for this if you go to
www.samsung.com website, goto products, goto dvd players, click on samsung N501 update, this will give you two files that you can download to a CD rewriter. Hope it works for you.

That won`t be much help, the player can`t read CD recordables!!!
Unless it can play CD-RW. I had this player and took it back cos of this.

Jackie:

That firmware file is only for a NUON player (DVD-N501). With the standard DVD-M series (DVD-M105, 205, 305 etc.) you need to use an EPROM programmer to update the firmware - it`s not upgradable via CD.

Full details are in my FAQ linked above. My site also contains dozens of firmware files for a whole range of Samsung players.
