Page 1 of Safeways Daewoo DVG6000d plays everything! for 89.99!!

I have just purchased the above and it plays VCD SVCD its also CD-R CD-RW, MP3.......IMO its a bloody good buy, I had all kindsa hassle with Pacific, Dansai and such alike, this is good value. And it DOES play everything...my advice to Pacific, Schneider, Dansai owners who are having trouble..buy the DAEWOO!
Other manufacturers have done themselves a big injustice,by disabling the VCD mode, I know 3 people who have got refunds on their models.

Dave you have mentioned that it plays everything but are you also aware that you can use your remote control to overcome the region 2 only coding? Well all you need to do is switch the machine on (not just the standby light) press setup then press stop (the button with the square) then press the previous button ( I<< ) then the next button ( >>I ) and it will bring up the factory control page, go down to region ID and it will bring up regions 1 to 8 and a bypass. I assume that bypass allows play of all region discs, I would appreciate if someone out there could clarify this. I hope this is of some use to you and if not it may be useful to someone else. I have just purchased this machine from Safeway ( with 10% staff discount ) and entered the Region hack and set it to `BYPASS` it would appear to work fine as have tried Region 1 and 2 dvd`s with this setting and both dvd`s played perfectly.

the daweoo is a dansai with different firmware the only prob is no macro off facility

This is a great machine. I puchased it for £75 in Safeway Glasgow. There is no bypass but you can choose what region you want. You can`t disable the macrovision unless you change the chip or use a macrobuster but still well worth the money
