Is there a major difference between optical and coaxil for dd 5.1

Hi

I got an aiwa 370 which is connected to my DD digitheatre by coaxil and was wondering if anyone knew wether or not getting an optical cable will make any difference to the already excellent sound i am getting at the mo?

I`ve asked this one already and the answer is that u won`t hear the difference, so don`t bother getting an optical cable...

I see you already got a response but i thought i would give you one also. i work in circuit city an electronics retailer here in the states. the guys in the audio department told me that for a short run like 1 meter the major difference is that you get a larger bandwith, which should give you better sound, as he said, i dont think you would here the difference.. the only way optical is beneficial is if you are doing a longer run, in which case the signal will not degrade. i hope i was some help
