Page 1 of Philips 701 seeking info

does anybody have any experience of a philips 701, I have just bought one at £199 the recode seems to work ok and it now plays R1 including the Patriot. any comment.

It`s not the most quiet player around and the layer change could be better.

But these problems aren`t that huge of proportion, so it`s recommendable.

I own one of these and am really happy with it`s use, the only niggle I have is I don`t know how to set it to multi region, Brian how did you set yours to multi region and what is a recode?

Cheers lievn I have seen that before, the only worry I have is that it will lock out after 25 changes, I was wondering if the new players i.e. 701 711 still had this unwanted feature??

Also does anyone know the difference between the 701 and the 711??

I used an all for one x 5 remote together with the standard remote and followed the hack for the Philips 750 found in the multi-region section under popular players, which was very easy and all seems OK I recently played a region 1 version of the Patriot with no problems.

Robert the hack that u are refering to is an older one that had be done with the delivered Philips RC.
It did fix the region settings after about 25 times.

But the "new" 750 hack contributed by Alan Verth is a hack that u have to do with an Universall remote like the OneforAll models.
This one doesn`t fix the settings at all.
