Budget Home Cinema - is it worth investing in scart leads?
All Advice gratefully recieved:
I have a budget (£200) Goodmans Home cinema setup, a Phillips Freeview box and a half decent Hitachi TV - without feeling compelled to go down to Curry`s and get myself a load of "Monster" cables, would you say that I`m likely to notice any significant improvement by using half decent scart leads?
If so, any recommendations as to what to get and from where?
TIA
RE: Budget Home Cinema - is it worth investing in scart leads?
I got thrown out of Currys last week for stepping in after overhearing an arrogant spotty herbert telling a poor unsuspecting punter that they wouldn`t get a decent picture at all unless they invested in the top of the range (£60) SCART cable they had in stock.
I stepped in and asked why, considering the customer was spending several hundred pounds, they couldn`t throw in a free bog standard SCART cable. The customer would then have a functioning system and they could see if the quality was acceptable to them. If not, the customer could return the free cable and upgrade for a higher quality one.
After much spluttering, the assistant agreed to this plan, but I was politely asked to leave by the security guard.
What I am trying to say is, only upgrade if you are not happy with your current picture. If you bite the bullet, make sure you lay your hard earned greens at a decent store which will refund you if the improvement does not reflect the investment. Above all, don`t buy the cable at Currys. They are waaaaaaay overpriced.
Big A
I let my mind wander....and it didn`t come back.

Have to hate those sorts of stores.
Anyways Richersounds or any good hifi stores will let you try a Scart Lead at home with a deposit or such.

depending on the quality of the dvd, u may or may not notice any difference
although a good quality scart will last u almost forever, so u will have it when u decide to upgrade ur home cinema (which u deffinaltye will)
