RE: Different Matrix Reloaded question..

Something simlair happened to me when I went to see Matrix 2. I usually go for the edge, but my girlfriend said: "I want to sit in the middle the sounds better!" I couldn`t believe it she has NEVER said anything like that before, well since I have known her.

Maybe she is learning ;)

RE: Home Networking

There are 2 ways to network.

1 - as you mentioned connect up a router and access point.

2 - Run an adhoc system, basic just stick a wifi card in each and they will connect. You can share the net connection easily through XP, the only disadvantage is you have to have the computer on that is connected to the net for the others to connect. I use this method and it is cheap and works a treat. 1 desktop and 3 laptops.

Bluetooth would work too, I haven`t tried this but a buddy has with sucess, but the range is limited.

RE: Speaker Upgrade Advice Wanted Please.

How about getting some surrounds and a centre to match your front set - and a decent sub.

Unless you are unhappy with the fronts.

RE: DVD recording - the best way to go?

I have never used a Sky+ box - but does it let you record from external sources?

DVDR/HD and freeview box in one...now thats sounding even better

RE: DVD recording - the best way to go?

I was thinking about this, I have decided I would be happiest with a DVD+R (or -R, not fussed on write once format) and a HD recorder. I am not fussed about RW since I would probably never use one with the above setup.

RE: dvd dumbass

or variable that can cause problems

RE: DVD - A Playback problems.

And is it still not workin - did the disc get replaced?

RE: Is anyone suffering from the long term effects of a mispent youth?

I certainly know too many people who are suffering.

I am not and feel lucky for it.

RE: Kef Eggs

Did you get the new or old models in the end?

RE: DVD - A Playback problems.

Not even going to comment!

RE: dvd dumbass

Have you tried both analogue and digi outputs?

RE: I cant sleep in my Peugeot, any ideas?

Most estate cars are suitable for sleeping in.

RE: why wont dvd-r play on cyberhome 528?

Thats unlucky :o(

You must have one of the very small percentage that is not compatiable.

RE: DVD - A Playback problems.

Yes I agree - why such a sweeping statement against new formats?

They are without a doubt better than CD`s (as a prerecorded format).

Just the software is not widely availble - but most of what is is very good.

Why such a bad response towards them? Were you bite by one as a kid?

Thats why I hate dogs

RE: DVD recording - the best way to go?

RAM is only not popular in europe - much like HD recording.

+/- RW offer very little considering that -R disc`s can be bought so cheap now (and will fall further like CD-R did).

RAM offers the timeslip feature which (once the European audience get the picture) is far more useful than +/-RW.

And it is not only RAM that would benefit from a HD recorder - would you want to archive on more expensive +/- Disc`s? Also +/- would need a HD for anysort of timeslip functionality.

And phelings - your post structure is horrible to read.

RE: Panasonic DMR-E50 (Multi-Region) now priced at £319 ...

Oohh

Thanks for that spot - I may have to get one!

RE: doh... i dont think its working

I would stick with that player and just get a replacement.

You were unlucky and got 1% (or whatever)

Its a damn nice player

I had the same problem when i bought a 32" TV a few years back - it was replaced straight away and is stil lworking 6 years later.

RE: how does a pc know........

Most games will leave a folder with saved games and settings in that needs to be manually removed.

RE: DVD Player Opinion

I am unsure of the price range you are looking at,

But the Pioneer DV-656A is an amazing player, supports MP3 (including un-closed disc`s) most recordable disc formats and SACD and DVD-A should you want to have a play with those formats.

It can be found for £300 - and out performs anything at the price and provides far more features.

RE: Advice needed on choice of new laptop

Hard choice with laptops, going lightweight will rarely provide a desktop replacement - there will still be compromises.

The sony Z1 you are currently looking at is not really a desktop replacement but a lightweight second computer. It only has a 1.3gig P3 inside.

If you want a desktop replacement I think you need to make the weight compromise and look at Dell 8300 range or the Sony PCG range which both have P4`s inside and decent graphic cards.

Otherwise you need to accept the power compromise and get a small computer such as the Sony you mentioned.

RE: Free e-mail site recommendations?

www.orange.net do a good service - recently upgraded too check out the site.

RE: Recommend a freeview box.

Nobody has mentioned a digital audio out? Do any of these boxes have one? Or is it just the expensive pace that does?

RE: Sub Woofer Question ?

Sealed boxes will generally give you a much punchier bass as opposed to deep bass from a ported enclosure.

My uncle made a bass tube for his home cimema with great effect - may be worth a look.

RE: Recommend a freeview box.

lol

sorry my bad

£280 argos

RE: Recommend a freeview box.

Grrr if only I had the £80 to spend on the pace box today.

Goes back up to £350 tomorrow. Darn.

RE: Sub Woofer Question ?

I picked up an exdemo KEF psw2000 for £150 and it is worth every penny. There are alot around as people upgrade the kef `egg` package. Phone around a few kef dealers and see if they have one that has been exchanged in.

RE: Reccomend a freeview box.

I am actually looking for a freeview box - sky`s subscription based package does not interest me.

Reccomend a freeview box.

I am looking to replace my old ITV digi box (Pioneer) with something that actually responds to the remote control!

I would like it to have a digital audio out. Also a SVHS out would be nice but not vital.

The Pace twin view is obviously the top of my list - but if I cannot get the funds together fo that can anyone reccomend another around the £100 mark.
