I don`t know of anywhere with 370`s left Steve, but if you can hang off for a week or two, I might be able to go one better! :o)

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!

Well - if you`re anywhere near Suffolk, the Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich Comet stores both have display stock on sale (looked unmarked to me - they wouldn`t give a reduction). A couple of days ago the Ipswich store also had four boxed units - but that`s down to three `cos I got one!!

First impressions - very good; although I don`t have the wider experience to compare with other models.

Hmmm... is it worth the trip to ipswich? I`m in southend, essex. I`ll see if they`ve got any at comet online store first.

Well I took two faulty ones back to Comet in the days after Christmas so maybe they are in the system somewhere? Maybe they are being used as `display machines`?

Jimbo, what happens to this faulty stuff that is taken back. Does it get repaired and re-sold as new? or does it become a `manager`s special`.

They keep hold of it until you come back to purchase another one, then they sell you the old one again. You only ever had one faulty one, they just resold it back to you. You don`t believe me? Then go back into comet and buy another one! Here`s what`ll happen.

Bernie: Hi there, I see you have no AIWA 370`s out on display, do you have any in stock?

Comet: Sorry sir we`re all out [pause] erm actually what was your name again?

Bernie: Bernie!

Comet: Hold on let me just check out back...[a few minutes later].....ahh yes we have one left. There you go sir, that`ll be £199.99

Bernie: Excellent!

Comet: [sniggle] He`ll be back....

Sadly this is not the case. The two players had completely different faults!!

I don`t know what Comet`s returns policies are, but ours are:

If a unit is returned within 28 days with a fault, it is returned to a manufacturer.
(what the manufacturers do, I`m not sure, but I think they get "Factory Refurbished" and sold as graded)
However, own brand kit is repaired and sold as "Fully Guaranteed Exchanged"

This is, in actual fact, a LEGAL requirement. Trading Standards inpose severe fines on retailers reselling faulty/exchanged (if opened and used)/ refurbished goods as "New" stock.

I agree - I`m not that desperate for it! ;¬)

Anyway, I`m ordering a LG3350 off Dabs instead now.
