Page 1 of Encore 450 or LG 3350?

I have a dilemma. I need some advice.

I cannot decide whether I want the Encore 450 or the LG 3350. I think i may be able to get the Encore from Gamestation watford, who say they are expecting a new stock tomorrow (the 16th), but I don`t know whether to trust them on that, I`m gonna phone them later.

On the other hand I might go for the LG which several places say they will be getting in a week or so (21store and Direct Electricals). Mind you I will have to pay an extra £35 for the LG, I`m not sure it`s worth it.

Anyway, I`m having some difficulties weighing up the pro`s and con`s, perhaps if someone else goes over them, i`ll be able to make up my mind.

The Encore has component video, the LG does not.
The LG is DTS and MP3 compatible the Encore
is not.I strongly advise you go for the LG 3350 as
it is clearly the better player with superior picture and
sound. You get what you pay for and the LG is still considered
a bargain in terms of it`s price range.

Is this 1st hand knowledge? It has no mention of DTS!
Or is it a newer version than the DV-450?

Both Bedlam and me have first generation Encore DV450 players (black ones, made in March or April 2000) that have no reference to DTS on the facia.

There are no `newer versions` other than the colour changing to silver and the player being called the Encore DV450S with the S for, yup, you guessed it, Silver ! These `newer` versions (built Sept 00) do have the MP3 and DTS logos on them now.

They definitely do output (but not decode) DTS though, honest. (Otherwise I wouldn`t have demolished the whole street when watching Gladiator last week)
