Is this possible? (includers the MICO R311)

jhon (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 3rd January 2004, 19:52

I have just purchased a Sainsburys special Mico espejo R311.

Cheap yet chearful

I also own a pioneer A04 dvd r drive (identical to the 104)

can I......

1. Record a film of the TV to a DVD+RW and the transfer it to a DVD-R with the use of my P.c. If so how and...

2. transfer my old VHS films to DVD before they reach there last ever playing days without the R311 shouting about copy protection all the time.

Hope you guys can help

Many thanks
Jhon

i can`t speak about dvd+r to dvd-r as i do not fully understand thew differences (phellings is your best bet :D ) but you will almost certainly need a macro lead to copy your vhs stuff to dvd (assuming you are "backing up" comercially produced films ;) )

Please chaps-only 1 L.
I am not up on PC drives, but I would assume you could transfer the DVD+ recording to your PC`s hard drive, then transfer it back to a DVD- disc. But I see no use for this facility.DVD-R and DVD+R are just about equal in terms of compatibility-so why would you need to do it?

www.sonel.com are your best bet for a lead to remove Macro and CGMS

Is the 104 definitely one that handles both formats ?

i have the pioneer 105, which will read +r/rw but only writes to -r/-rw so the main question is (i think) other than the physical differences in media is the way the information is stored the same ie can you copy a dvd authered on +r directly to -r and will it still work on most standalone players :D

By mistake I put a DVD-RAM file onto my computer & recorded it onto a DVD-R & it played back as a DVD-RAM disc. Bit of useless info`. To go from DVD+ R/RW tp DVD-R use either TMPGenc Author or latest Nero, but as phelings said can`t see the point.
