S-Video Through SCART

BMoynihan (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 21st January 2004, 10:27

Hi,

Up to now I have always connected my TV to my DVD thorough a S-Video cable. I need to get a new player and I have been looking at bothe the Sharp (Bee post below) and a Samsung. Although the Samsung says it has S-Video it doesn`t seam to have the connector on the back.

Can the DVD send the S-Video signal through the SCART cable and if so is there any degrading of the picture when doing so?

Thanks

Ben

Ben,

you can send / receive SVHS thru` scart, my player has a SVHS socket but my tv does`nt, but it`s no.2 scart socket has SVHS compatibility.

I would`nt have thought you`d notice much difference running SVHS thru` scart.

hth

Ste.

Most quality players will output S-video through Scart. But on a different note, players from Pioneer ,Panasonic,JVC are so well specified and low priced, why bother with Samsung?

Hi,

I`m looking for a Home Theatre system and the only ones I can find at the £150 - £180 mark are the Samsung HT-DB120 and the Sharp HT-CN400DVE from Richer Sounds which had been modified to be Multi-region.

If anybody has either and can advice I would appreciate it,

Thanks

Ben
