Help With TV/Sat Box/DVD Player setup
I hope someone might be able to shed some light on a little (but annoying) problem I`ve been having with my TV/Sat Box/DVD setup recently.
The problem is - approx every 10min or so the TV "drops out" - loses the picture & sound with the screen going a grey blank. Then after a minute or 2 it comes back on OK.
However, this problem only occurs on terrestial TV. It doesn`t happen on satellite TV or when a dvd is playing
My TV is a Hitachi one with dual scart sockets. I have connected the Sat & DVD player via a press button 3-way scart connector.
I thought that this must be the problem - so I went to Argos today - and bought a new one. (I bought a Masterplug (£29.99) one with an automatic switch-through which doesn`t seem to work- unless everything else is switched off - so it`s not recommended - and I`ll probably take it back.)
However, the same problem is occurring with this unit as well.
The only other thing I can think of is a faulty scart lead?
Can anyone shed any light on this?
RE: Help With TV/Sat Box/DVD Player setup
Everything screams out at me TV fault in the tuner section (analogue side of things) not SCART connectivity.
RE: Help With TV/Sat Box/DVD Player setup
Yeah, if it is the terrestrial channels only it gets the signal from the coax cable so as Rassilon63 says, sounds like a tuner problem, not scart.
You could try unplugging everything from the scart sockets and see if it makes a difference but I doubt it will. That will eliminate your DVD and Sky box from the equation.
RE: Help With TV/Sat Box/DVD Player setup
Thanks for this - but apologies!! - since I`ve just discovered that the TV is also "dropping out" & going into standby mode when connected to Satellite TV as well. The TV is a Hitachi 28" widescreen (C28W410SN) purchased from Argos approx 4 years ago. Any ideas as to what to check for. Any further advice would be appreciated. Thanx.
RE: Help With TV/Sat Box/DVD Player setup
i dont know if this is much help to you but i bought an hitichi tv from powerhouse approximatley 4 to 5 years ago and i had the same problem. i`d be just watching a satalite programe or dvd and it would just go off i could usually get it back on withn a few mins with the remote or by switching it off and on again. and for the longest while i thought it was the remote untill one day it went off and did not come back on again.
£90.00 and a new power suply later it was all working fine and its never switched off again since..
