Messing about with SCART cables...........?
Is it possible to get a splitter for SCART cables that breaks them up into there seperate outputs? Could you seperate the sound from a scart cable so that you could plug it into things?
I am just curious as I was wanting to plug my N64 into my hi-fi, but there are no sound outputs on the N64 or the TV, but I was thinking that you might be able to make some by messing with the SCART. That would rock.
Hmm not much to do with DVDs, but still.
Aye, cheers lads.
RE: Messing about with SCART cables...........?
it is possible to get an N64 to Co-ax Phono convertor. Usu these would be plugged into a seperate Phono to SCART convertor to make the complete AV signal, but you can just pass the Video signal through (usu Yellow) and plug the Audio into the Hi-fi (which is well worth doing, btw)
Alternatively, pass the signal through a NICAM video, if you have one. These usu have an Audio Out facility that you can run to the Hi-fi.

Thats the easiest way, an N64 Phono connector, however, if you`re good enough, yeah you can disconnect the relevant pins and rewire them to a set of phonos yourself.
Lot of work though for a cable thats around a tenner!!
AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!!

Hi,
Yes, you can get Scart to Phono leads. I got one with Scart and phono audio in/out at one end and phono audio & video in/out at the other. It is described as a "Scart + 2 phono to 6 phono" lead on the box! I got it some time ago from a hi-fi shop. It was quite pricey at around £20 quid, but it did have gold plated phono plugs. Most Hi-Fi shops do them and I`ve seen similar in Currys & Dixons
Cheers

Argos sell an RGB scart splitter that will allow 3 scarts to be plugged into one source. Its not bad at all . There are three switches, ABC , as well as three more, RGB, A+B and B+C if you follow me.
There are also two or three phono to phono socket.
Remember that the N64 is only av compatible, not RGB.
I think that the unit is about £9.99.
Pete.

Cheers!
Well I might invest in getting a decent cable then, that could rock.
Another slightly daft question:
Is it possible to somehow connect my N64 up to a Digitheatre to get the Dolby Surround sound from games such as Perfect Dark or Zelda? Or do I need a Pro-Logic TV or something?
Could I just connect the phono plugs into the back of the Digitheatre? Can you get Pro-Logic like that?
I dont really know much about Pro-Logic. Maybe I am insane.
Thanks anyway.
RE: Messing about with SCART cables...........?
Pro logic is carried within the standard stereo signal, so if you connect the stereo out to a prologic amplifier, you shoud be OK
Many amps these days are Dolby 5.1. Make sure you get one that will do Pro Logic as well.
Do N64 games have pro logic soundtracks? Most games and videos that have dolby 5.1 also have pro logic, but it`s not always the case.
RE: Messing about with SCART cables...........?
Nice!
So I dont need any extra kit after all!
I was going to get the Videologic Digitheatre, which can handle Pro-Logic. This all means I will be able to get Pro-Logic sound for games. Aye!
Yeah quite a few N64 games have Pro-Logic sound.
This is all good news. Thanks a load people.
Aye!

Hi
The official Nintendo scart lead is actually three phono leads (one video, two audio) with a scart adaptor to plug into the tv. I have one of these and it is superb (paid a fiver for it too, bargain) you just leave the video lead plugged into the scart adapter, then route the two audio into your stereo.
As for surround N64 games. Perfect Dark is the best I have found....
RE: Messing about with SCART cables...........?
yey Nintendo!
All games Made bye RareWare Starting with Jet force gemini have dolby prologic.
Yey Perfect dark
Yey Goldeneye
