Compacks 101 DVD Recorder - Unable to use dvd+r
Bought a compacks yesterday. Set up was fine and records onto dvd+rw no problems. Try to use a dvd+r and it records for between 10 sec and a minute and it crashes. Turns itself off and the disc is toast. Tried with about 4 cheap disc and a couple of branded memorex ones all the same result. Went back to W and swopped it for a different one today but with the same result. Is there a brand that works with this recorder? +rw is fine for tv recording but i also want to backup vhs stuff that i will want to play in a normal player. Any idea?
If not it will be going back and I will be looking for another machine. Any recomendations. Was looking at the philips 70 for £180.
Thanks in advance

Spoke to the compacks helpdesk who assure me that Phillips and TDK DVD+R will work. I`ll buy a couple and give them a go and post the results but if anyone else has had succes or not with this media then please let me know (before I waste more cash!). Also if anyone has any recomendations please let me know.
Cheers

Hi There
Just recently got a Compacks 101 from woolies in Batley just under two weeks, I had problems With recording and playback from the start, so I rung them and they said they would not have any in till that friday, we where talking Tuesday, But they did say there was some at Woolies in the Whiterose centre Leeds, So I travelled all the way over there to swop, Now I can record and play back but only in the recorded itself, or in my player, with which I am copying Holiday dvd`s and Vcd`s from, any other no chance, I have tryed it on my friends but no joy, I have tryed Bulkpak, TDK, and a few unknown brands. The thing is My friend got one exactly the same from the same place ( Batley ) and he as had no problems whats so ever. with recording, playback in all the machines he as tryed. So mine once again is going for a ride in the car, Last time. if no joy money back I think....Good luk with yours...

I think you need to finalise the DVD+R disk to get it to work on another DVD player. There is an option in the Setup menu to do this.
