Scan SC2000, Hitachi 505x, Daewoo DHC2200 and Grundig GDV130 owners, customise your firmware!!!
I`m looking for a handfull of owners who are willing to test FIRMTweak with their DVD players. The program is at a pre-release test stage but it has not been tried on a real DVD player yet.
For more info see www.keithjclark.btinternet.co.uk/firmtweak for more information of the program. The current download does not support your players yet, but if I can find someone brave enough to test the program with their machine then I can hopefully get round to releasing it.
Ta!
Keith

Could you include the Sampo-family players too (Encore DV450, Afreey LD2060, Sampo DVE620/625/660, Omni SPL3000G) as they all use the infamous ESS4318 too ?
I actually meant to get in touch with you on Friday, when one of the regulars e-mailed me with details of your site.

That was me:-))

Well, the program does support the Sampo 560 and the Monyka 8200 as well as the players listed above. FIRMTweak is programmed to be flexible with players based on similar architecture, so if the players you listed are all clones then the program will probably work with them anyway.
To test support, I need firmware for these players. Any URL`s?

Try my site, Area 450 for European Sampo firmware (the latest version is 3.5f) for 560/660 firmware at :
http://website.lineone.net/~clayton.hayward/downloads.htm
and also Teddystacker`s FTP:
ftp://ftp.dvd-wizards.com/teddystacker/
for American Sampo firmware (the latest version is 3.4c, but the Macrovision and Region Hack loophole menus have disappeared on this upgrade, so try 3.4b - you`ll need to do the different ones for the DVE620 and DVE660 - the former has no decoder, the latter has)
Any problems please e-mail me : there`s a direct link at the bottom of any of Area 450s pages

Clayts, can you clear up some firmware version/player conflicts for me?
I`ve downloaded Afreey, Sampo DVE 620, DVE 660 DVE(?)560, Encore etc... firmware and most of them are exatcly the same!
Could you please help me complile a list of which players use the exact same firmware, and which chipsets are used. I don`t know the architecutre of these players too well yet. I`m a Samsung owner, ZiVA all the way!
You can e-mail me through the FIRMTweak home page if you need to.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!
What about Scan, Hitachi, Daewoo and Grundig owners any info?

Be carefull lads.

Be dam careful, adjusting firmware will more than likely have very adverse effects on you player. It requires great skill and knowledge of all the hardware involved.
This guy is writing a program to tailor your firmware, now you are relying on his skill and knowledge of all the hardware he is writing this for. When he is writing this program, if he makes a simple error in the code, that is by the writers own admission in its beta stage and untested (this sounds more like alpha software to me) then you could well end up with a dead player that you can do naff all with.
Now my self seeing that this was posted on 01/04/01 never took this to be real but more of a fools day joke. But if its not a joke I really don’t recommend using this software.
