Picture distorted at the top of TV advice please
As I said in my last post, I am new to the world of DVD Players.
I have quite a few R2 dvd`s but only 3 R1`s. My latest R1 purchase is Ghost, but the picture at the top of the TV screen is distorted and as I don`t know anyone else with a multiregional DVD Player, I was hoping that the more experience amongst you, could advise me, if this is more likely to be the dvd or the player itself.
I don`t have this problem with any other dvd`s
RE: Picture distorted at the top of TV advice please
My first R1 DVD on my Samsung 709 had the same thing. I solved the problem by turning Quasi-Pal to off on the players menu. If you have a silmilar option or changing from Pal 50 to Pal 60.
If none of the above works try changing the players output to RGB as this will override the NTSC/PAL content.
Let us know what player you have and somebody will probably be able to give you a more detailed and accurate answer.

Thanks, I should have thought. I have a Pioneer 636 which is chipped to play multiregional. I got 2 operating manuals with the player, but neither are in English or German which I can read...lol
The other problem is that it should be able to play VCD`s. But my son brought one in and it just kept pausing and starting.
The player is set on RGB, when you set it on S-Video, the picture quality is bad. I am beginning to think that the problem is with the player rather than the DVD.
Thanks for the advice

well RGB should give u a better picture so that`s not too surprising, when i switch to video/s-video all my colours smear... it`s creepy lookin`
is the disturbance at the top of the screen a flickering whiteish line? if so that`s your TV failing to deal with NTSC signals and I suspect, if you check, you`ll find that the image is slightly "squished" - circles won`t look quite right and stuff.
check for that, if it`s there then your TV is only just handling the lower number of lines, mine can`t cope and i`m having to get a new one!
