Will the firmware upgrade for your player also work for the Daewoo? I have the scart RGB and pixellation problems, but the subtitles do not default to on.

Erm I don`t think that Scan will send you a free upgrade for a player from another manufacturer some how, even if it did work. ;-)

will you send the firmware to any one who has the DHC 2200k as long as we pay for it? What format does the firmware come in,is it on CD for example?
my DHC does not seem to have many of the faults associated with the upgrade but will not switch my TV to RGB (I think something with pin 9 on the scart or something) would you recommend trying upgrade? I also do not want to lose the region hack and multivision bypass will firmware affect this?
sorry about all the questions I don`t want to jump in blindfolded and lose my DVD

Im not sure the upgrade will restore the rgb although a few posts
on the forum says it will.Macrovision and region hack wont be affected.
Basically your dvd player is not sending a signal through pin 9 to tell
your tv activate rgb mode so your tv satys in composite mode no
matter waht you do.The firmware is actually a couple of chips
that need installing on the main board.Comes with instructions as
well.

Hmmmm...

Seen as how I cant get a sensible answer out of Scan, Ill try here...

How come the so called 3rd batch of fixed players came without a SCART lead, but included a SVHS to SCART convertor?? Is that the problem solved?? Also my new batch player seems to play everything very very quietly and playing with the dynamic range makes not one iota of a difference??

I am supposedly meant to end this back to SCAN at my own expense, haha, yeah right. I eagerly await the 4th batch due in next week to the importer who I now seem to be dealing with as opposed to Scan, who havent got a clue about customer relations.

Im really sorry I ever read the review on this page as I`m down a £180 for a dud player, that Ill never get a refund on. :(

Oh and forgot to mention the god awful noise it makes when the disc spins up...flymo anyone!!!

Will replacing these chips not invalidate the warranty? And isn`t pin 9 the green earth and pin 16 the RGB switching?

I have had a Daewoo DVD (DHC2200k) for a couple of months now and it is an excellent DVD player. I don`t know about the problems that SCAN have had with theirs but mine hasn`t had any at all. Maybe the SCAN one is a bit cheeper, but at least with Daewoo you get a brand name you can trust and a reliable player.

Fair enough, it may have a problem with RGB switching. But if you can switch your TV manually to an RGB input you wont have a problem. In all this is the best player you will get for under £200.
