Freeview Boxes

Can anyone recommend a good Freeview Box?

I was bought an Echostar T-101 for Xmas, but it`s only good for certain freeview channels, the others keep breaking up .
My signal on the analogue channels is very good, so I don`t think it`s my aerial .

So what are others` experiences ?
And what do you think are the best Boxes?

Absolutely immaterial to Freeview reception and could very well be the problem.
Also could be in a weak freeview area (check in the store you purchase from or on the site online...can`t remember the URL)

Best way to check is get a loan of a box from a mate and see if the same results....if it is, you need a digital capable aerial.

BTW, I`ve seen one of the worst reception Analogue TV picture ever be linked to a Freeview box and it work flawlessly. Analogue and Digital reception strength don`t necessarily mix.

Well I know I`m in a good area, I checked that out.

But now I need a digi aerial ? Jeez.
So do i have to replace my analog aerial? How will that affect my analog pics ?

I`m reluctant to change my aerial cos it`s in the loft and it`s so difficult trying to figure out if it`s pointing at the right angle etc. If I get someone in to do it how much could that cost?

Best thing to do is contact an aerial installer.
Normally loft aerials have a few probs with digi signals, so that could have summat to do with it too, but as I said before get a mate with a box and use his to check it out before splashing out on an aerial.

you can pick up Digital capable antennae now for about £13, and if you can crawl about your loft yourself, it shoul dbe just a case of directly replacing your current aerial with the new one, pointing in the same direction etc.

Remember...before anything, test with another freeview box, the one you had may just have been faulty! ;)

GL either way

Depending on your area, you may need a wideband aerial.
Analogue signals are usually a certain group aerial relating to which UHF frequencies they are there to receive from.Digital may not use that same range of frequencies and your current aerial may not be designed for the DTT signals in your area. This also causes problems with analogue C5 incertain areas.
