:/ HELLO I hope that some one can help me,I recently bought a Goodmans Xpro DVD recorder I set it up thinking all I had to do was remove the RF leads from my video and substitute the dvd player in its place and retune the tv channel to pick up the signal from the dvd the instructions said this was possible it wasn`t so I mucked around with a mixture of scart leads and RF leads until eventually got it working the instructions said not to do this as interference may occur on tv channels sure enough there is interference on the terrestrial tv channels but not when I view these through Sky but this means that we have to watch what we are copying or watch poor quality tv there is nothing wrong with the aerial as I have tested it on another tv with perfect results please can anyone give me some advice as to how to cure this or possibly point out were I am going wrong yours hoping

I too purchased one of these a few weeks ago. Since then I have had it connected to a portable whilst I copy my old VHS collection. Having seen your post, I decided to try connecting it to my main TV and found the same problem regarding the interference. What I plan on doing is to buy an aerial splitter and then have one feed straight to the TV, and the other feed fed through the video and DVD recorder, with the recorder connected via scart to the TV.

The one thing I find annoying is that when the recorder powers on to record a programme, the TV switches to the SCART signal. Are you aware of any way of preventing this from happening either from the TV or recorder end.

On a separate issue, have you used the video+ mode to set a recording? I tried it but find having to enter the channel number after entering the video+ number annoying. I also noticed that having set the default recording mode to LP, it only seems to work when doing an instant recording. When setting a timed programme it reverts to HQ. Have you observed this?

hello photoman thanks for your reply to my request for help,in reply to your questions I have not tried recording using the video+ mode as yet the only recording I have done is instant recording and therefore have not noticed that when the recorder powers up that the tv switches to the scart signal so at the moment I cannot be of any great help to you but I will try and work it out. I will also split my aerial and put one straight into the tv thanks again sneb

Go into the SCART lead & cut (or pull the pin out of its "home" & leave it in the body of the plug) Pin 8, this will stop the switching signal getting to the TV.

I think its a 1 - 1 connection ( 8 - 8 ) so it wont matter which end you "nobble".

Consulting - If your not part of the solution, there`s good money to be made by prolonging the problem.

Rassilon

Thanks. I did some Googling after my posting and came across a schematic for the SCART lead. Now its just a matter of pulling the pin!
