R.C E (Region Coded Enhanced) DVD`s

Simply British (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 6th February 2005, 17:56

Hello all :)

Newbie to the forum and got a question about R.C.E DVD`s.

I know that R.C.E disks can only be played in Region 1 and possibly some Multi-Region players.

I have a Hitachi DV-P305e player, which i`ve hacked for multi-region play. I can also select the region I need for the said DVD.

Now...does anyone know if R.C.E discs can be played on my player?

Don`t want to buy an R.C.E movie and find out I can`t play it, as they are non-returnable.

Any contribution appreciated ;)

Regards,

I had exactly the same player and it played any region and some RCE`s, but I bought Dinosaur from Florida and it would not play at all. I now have a Pioneer 575 and it plays on that though.

Hope that helps.

Pete

You`ll have no problems playing RCE DVDs on the Hitachi DV-P305e - it`s a rebadged version of the Samsung 511, and I know that handles RCE discs just fine.

To be honest, RCE is pretty much a non-issue these days, as the vast majority of multi-region players aren`t fazed by it in the slightest.

That`s fantastic news...because the USA bring out better versions of DVD`s than in England!

Hurray!

Thanks, Mike.

One consideration. If you hacked your player through the remote you may have to set it to Region 1 and not `multi-region` to play RCE discs.

Also bare in mind that if you buy a RCE disc and it will not play, you can`t have it replaced on that basis. Good luck.
