hi just a quick question, the venturer pvs 1090 portable dvd player, has anybody got one, argos is selling it for 174.99 [with 10% off cuz a new shop opened } also you get a £10 voucher for spending over £100, so if you have one any good are you glad you brought it or did you take it straight back, thanks

I have one of these and have found it to be quite good. The colour quality and contrast vary from DVD to DVD a little (all Region 2 DVDs), but overall a 4/5 for image.

Sound is limited through the built in speakers, but it supoorts 2 headphones. 3/5 for sound.

Value for money? 5/5, and that is before the £10 `cashback` voucher.

1. Power on
2. Open tray/lid
3. Use remote to enter 81328
4. Press "enter" on the remote until "Region 9" is displayed top left
5. Press "play" on the remote
6. Close tray/lid

15 seconds and you're done!

Yes I bought my daughter one for the car and it needed to be hackable.This one seemed to offer a good compromise of cost and quality with a good screen size.Only thinkg I found annoying was that even after adjusting the screen ratio to 4:3 in setup,it still displays everything,even non 16:9 dvd`s as widescreen.Luckily,my daughter is not as picky as me.

i went out to get one end of last week, took it back next day as car adaptor did not work, so swopped it for another, 3days later plugged it in and the thing went bang, smoke coming out everything didn`t work again, took it back and got the phillips instead, not much for argos but you can not fault their returns policy, i have took things back to currys and dixons and comet before in the past and thay are well now we have your money we don`t care .

Bought one of these players today. I can confirm the above region hack works ok. (Don`t need to keep re-entering it.)
Very pleased with player. Great screen size and good quality image for the price. No problems at all with car adapter.
Comes with a good bag and all the adapters you need. Think I will find a better set of headphones though
