i have approximatly £150 to spend but the more money i save on buying the hardware the more money i have to spend on dvd titles which of these machines is best on overall performance. i will buy the machine in one region but it needs to be easy to hack into so i can have it region free, the cheapest prices i have found are 128.48 for the samsung, 149.99 for the philips and 169.99 for the toshiba (already region free) has anyone got any advice on which one i should buy.
Thanks

No no my good friend. Go for the Toshiba SD-100. It`s a great player with very few trip ups. Everything you could want, only thing it hasnt got is a 5.1 decoder. But whos complaining?!?! Not me!

I`d recommend the Sammy as well. If you can get it at the price listed, it`s a great bargain. Easy to hack and fully RCE-proof, with very good picture quality. Only downside is that it doesn`t play CD-R/RW.

If you decide to get the chipped Tosh instead, do make sure it can handle RCE discs! (This depends on the type of mod fitted.)

my advice is to steer well clear of the samsung and philips and plump for the toshiba.absoluteley awesome picture performance that will flatter any tv,and sturdy reliable build quality.
buy the samsung and risk incompatibilty, and philips should stick to what they do best, making top notch tellies and....er....hairdryers?

end of story,buy cheap,pay twice.

I`d also go for the LG3200 for £129.99. I got one recently, and it`s great! (They are aslo for sale in Argos and Toys`r`us).

I have a Philips 701 player which is region free by use of the One for all remote hack.
It has no problems with RCE and plays CD-R & CD-RW
I would recommend this player to any one .
