Page 1 of Pioneer DV535 or Sony DVPS335...

Can anyone help? I`ve read a few reviews and both players seem to have gone down well. They`re advertised at the same price but I just can`t decide between the two.
Thanks

I can`t comment on the Sony, but I returned two Pioneer 535s as I found the RGB output too dark with black shadowy lines going up and down the screen. I exchanged it for a AIWA 370 and I am pleased with that.
Good god,a name sake!
Anyhow, these are both excellent players from two very well regarded brands(sounds like salesman patter!),neither have any particular strengths over the other, but if i had to reccomend one then it would be the Pioneer.
You can get a multi region machine from Richer Sounds for £199 so theres a good start. The av performance is also really good for the money as well.
But the clincher is the music replay, whereas the Sony has a very laidback tone, the Pioneer could double up as a pretty good cd player as well.
In a nutshell, the Pioneer has a more even balanced performance,so go for that.
Enjoy

A final point is the Pioneer can play CDR. If you burn your own CDs, you will want the Pioneer.

I have the Pioneer and can`t complain about it. Except that on numerous occasions, there seemed to be a slight delay in the picture when moving between certain scenes. But they were mostly on rented disks. Bought it because of the price, it received lots of great reviews on www.audioreview.com and it can play CD-Rs and CD-RWs. It is the replacement for the 525 which some viewed as one of the better entry-level DVD players.
