I want to buy my parents a freeview box for xmas but not sure which one to go for.
It needs to be easy to use as they are both in their 70s and I`m not worried about Top Up TV, just want the free channels.
I looked at the Goodmans and Sagem models at Argos but have been told they are not reliable ?
Can anyone recommend a good brand / model ?
Cheers

Goodmans and Mustek products are best avoided like the plague, I own a Matsui with top up tv and it is really good for £50. Panasonic models are known to have top quality picture and they are known to be easy to use like Their dvd recorders. you will benefit well from shopping on the net (I saved £150 on a Panny dvd recorder), here are some good bargain sites:
www.kelkoo.co.uk
www.pricerunner.co.uk
Happy shopping and good luck and i hope the advice was helpful
PS. Philips and Sony ones are worth a look

My good lady bought a Goodmans GDB5 for me last year and it is the mutts nutts as they say :)
As both your parents are in their 70`s they may like the added bonus of the GDB5 having a DAB tuner built in which does sound wonderfully clear.
Great wee box and works perfectly with an idoor , amplified, aerial.
Have a wee swatch you may be able to get this one for about £50-60 now.

Avoid Philips like the plague. I bought one a month or so ago and it keeps producing a "loss of signal" message. This then requires powering off/on & the re-installing all the channels again. This sometimes happens twice per week. I checked up on www.digitalspy.co.uk & found that this was a common problem & there seems to be a design fault. The Humax & Pansonic seem to be rated the highest on this site.
