Hardware Forum
just bought the m5 today 22/9/01,what a fabulous machine.
originally bought the alba 113 but on reading this forum took it back to argos on the 16 day money back option.
payed an extra £50 for this model from tesco extra and it`s well worth every penny.
plays everything straight out of the box including cdr`s and cdrw`s.
but also noticed that tesco had a sign up saying while stocks last and this machine is not advertised on there web site anymore.
serial no. starting 128xxxxxx
so if your looking for an exellent fully featured player then this it.
but buy it now before they run out?
I hate to say I told you so :-)

Thanks for the info on the serial number by the way - last I knew they were up to 127xxxxx (vital in helping to identify the good ones and bad ones)
Could you confirm that the manufacturing date (on the same sticker on the reverse of the player) is still 3/2001 please ?
the date on the back is now 4/2001.
and from what tesco`s told me this batch came in yesterday 21/9/2001
RE: WHARFEDALE M5 go and buy it
HELLLLLLLLLLPPPPP!
My whafedale m5 has just died at 3months. I need to exchange it but my store has none in stock. Can you tell me at which Tescos you got yours from?
Many thanks
Help - try here : http://www.area450.co.uk/tesco_m5_update.htm
I presume you had one of the 12/2000 players ?
Denon - cheers for that : so we`re now onto the third generation of M5s - excellent !
Could you do me one more favour, please ?
Tap in 1,2,3,4,5 on the remote and scribble down all the numbers and letters that come up, please.
Could you also confirm if the hack still works (ie SETUP and 6,2,8,3,6) to enable multi-region playback.
TIA
RE: WHARFEDALE M5 go and buy it
No I had 3/2001.
thanks a lot for the help.
yes the multi region hack still works,i will try the other numbers later after my kids have finished watching a film,
watch this space.
also someone asked where i got my new m5 from as there store had run out. tesco extra, western avenue, cardiff
they had about 30 units there, but be warned as the notice said while stocks last.
i think this may be the last batch they are going to stock as the m5 is not on tesco`s web site.
Hello all,
Indeed Tesco are now exhausting stock of the m5 as the recent price reduction has seen the machine moving at great speed through checkouts up and down the country. There will be more stock apparently, but its firmly on an as and when basis!
Denon are you a Cardiff lad? Thats my place of work you mention, do you dare reveal your true identity?!
Westy
yes indeed a cardiff lad born and bread, hmmm i wonder if that was you that sold me the m5 even though the guy looked shocked as i chucked it on the counter and replied where did you get that from as we did`nt have any yesterday.
