What`s better - SCART or S-Vid?

SCART defines a type of connector, while s-video defines both a connector and the signal it carries. In principle:

RGB is better than
s-video which is better than
composite

all three of which can be carried via SCART, if the source and the TV allow. However, some TV`s (Toshiba?) don`t handle RGB too well, in which case s-video is the better choice.

Thanks, that`s interesting stuff. My tv (a Philips) has a couple of Scarts and an S-Vid input as well as the usual coax aerial socket, I guess one of the scarts could be RGB, I don`t know.

Thanks John.

Don`t forget that if you do hook up S-video to S-video you bain`t be getting no sound, mister...

If the TV supports RGB it`s usually SCART 1 (however it`s labelled).

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. Now I just need to get the player and try it out!

Thanks again.
