yamaha dsp-a5/remote code for proline dvd?

robs (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 27th October 2000, 20:23

I`ve just got a Yam DSP A5 amp, with a programmable remote. Does anyone know the manufactureres codes so that I can control my Proline 1000 DVD with the remote of the amp? Many thanks.

Yeah Rob the DVD code bit is a mite short in the manual isn`t it?

Try http://www.yamaha-audio.co.uk and if necessary e-mail them. They have an English outlet (good old Rickmansworth in Herts, my county of birth !) so they should be aware of their shortcomings on the old DVD codes.

Incidentally, while you`re there ask them for the Encore DV450 - I am SO lazy I just haven`t got round to it yet !!!

Cheers, Robs

Unfortunately, it is not possible to control the Proline (or Wharfedale) DVD player with the Yamaha A5 remote. These DVD players use a strange "alternating code" remote control system. It is possible (if a little difficult) to persuade a learning remote control such as the Cambridge M500 to control them. See the following thread over at the DVD forums.
