Page 1 of Sky digibox Problem ?
Hardware Forum
Hi
Can anyone confirm the low band freq for me ? I have got 9.75.I am having problems recieving any of the low band channels,it is probably a fault with the Grundig box but I thought it might be worth checking that I am on the correct Frequency.
Thanx in advance.
Gran.
Think I have read of this before as a regular problem.
What I recall is some Cambridge LNB`s do not get low band with some Grundig box`s. Both being ok. I recall just change the LNB and all is well.
I think this incompatability cause is a mystery.
Get a freind to let you try your box on his dish, and his box on your dish.
The LNB has worked fine since I got the system(when Sky first went digital?) but lost low band around xmas time, the LNB has been swapped already when I had the dish checked for alignment.I am beginning to think it has been a box problem all along but would have liked to have checked it is looking for the right freq just in case. I am toying with the idea of getting my missus to order a new system & cancelling this one,has anybody managed to do this ?.
Cheers
Gran.
Just an idea for you.
My brother had a problem with his sky box and thought of getting a new
one for £20 (from agent in Makro), sky wanted £60 to fix/replace his box.
He decided to go ahead and therefore cancelled his subscription with sky.
They took him all the way through the cancellation and at the very end
they offered to send an engineer to fix his system for free if he stayed with them. The engineer turned up a few days later and replaced his sky box.
The seem very eager to keep their viewers!
That`s what I want to hear !!! I mght give it a shot after all I can also go through with the cancellation & then withdraw if they don`t offer to fix it for free.
Cheers.
Gran.
Can anybody verify the freq I am on ?
The problem you talk of. Is it non-reception of some channels ?
Like ITV and ITV 2 ?
I`ve had problems since before christmas as well. ITV, ITV2, some other rubbish channels, and Q-Kerrang all come up as ` no satellite signal `.
SKY want me to contact the company that fitted my dish and re-align it as they say it`s because the channels concerned are narrow band or something, but I`m not sure it`s a dish problem.
Sometimes if I take the viewing card out, and re-insert it, the channels will come on, but as soon as I change channel and try and go back they have ` disappeared ` again.
Is this the LNB problem of which you speak ?
I don`t see why I should pay to get it fixed either. My contract with SKY is for them to provide channels. If I ain`t getting them then it`s their problem surely...
Everyone that I know is having this problem, and its more or less coincided with ITV`s arrival on SKY.
I understand, as I had a SKY engineer out last week, that ITV, and other less known channels, ie, music, pay for less satellite bandwith, hence forth poor picture and sound.
However, after paying the £60.00 to have my SKY box repaired, (both scarts went) the guy told me that if the problem continued, he would fit a new LNB to my dish, what ever that is. But, since my box has been replaced, the problem seems to have gone. So, I wonder if it was the box. It was a Panasonic by the way.
RE: Sky digibox Problem ?
The first channels I noticed that went South was "The Box" & "Adventure One",Both of these are are Eurobird. I posted a request for more channels on this Satellite and found I was not seeing Eurobird, only Astra.
If What I have been told is right the digibox is not sending a signal to tell my LNB to swap to lowband. This info is from the geezer who came to check my dish alignment for me.He also did a temporary swap of my LNB for one he had in his van which did not change anything so I assume all is well with the LNB.
Bowf, stop calling me Shirley.(surely,Sorry!!)

does anyone know what I should do with my old grundig box now I have had sky+ installed plus two remotes. The engineer said I could do anything with it seeing now that it is mine. Should I just bin it or is there a home somewhere for it?
Yeah,Right, like I should be so lucky.!!
