Gripes About RGB & Component Video
Why is it that not all the latest widescreen tv`s do not have 3 scarts with 2 RGB ? Even some of the latest expensive Sony`s costing over £1200 have only 1 RGB ! And if it`s a well known fact that component video is superior to scart RGB why do only Tosh include them, and on tv`s costing as little as £600ish ?
Also why does an expensive RGB fully wired 21 pin scart cable deliver better images & sound when the actual scart sockets on dvd`s & tv`s are basic spec interfaces without gold connections etc, etc, surely the inferior quality of such sockets cancels out any improvements with the cable, an analogy is like putting clean water into dirty water & expecting cleaner water out..........!!!

Bansky,
For questions like these you want to request for none other then westy himself!!!
The guy has probably experimented with every possible connection between a tv and dvd player! I know he has a Sony DVD and Tosh TV so he`s ideal for your question.
Give him a shout,

I`d think it`s the quality of the cable itself, rather than the connector, that makes the difference. "Gold plated" plugs are just for poseurs really ;-)
Regarding the component thing, blame manufacturers who seem to have pitched it as a "premium" product! Component doesn`t actually carry any more information than RGB; the key advantage seems to be that it bypasses some processing stages in TVs which have digital processing, resulting in a more "natural" looking image.
Anyway, I`d certainly support a call for more RGB and/or component sockets on TVs - the more the merrier. With all the games consoles and what not that I have, I can never have enough RGB SCARTs!

Can you not get a switcher for a reasonable cost that will let you feed two RGB inputs into one RGB socket?
