Page 1 of Optical Link for 5.1 prob

Howdy folks ,

I have a possible problem , I am buying an "XBOX" console when they launch , but they have an optical output for 5.1 . My problem is that even though I have a Sony S300 dvd system with 5.1 , I don`t think it has an optical input point , any suggestions as to how I can work around this ?

Unless the XBOX has a coaxial output for your s300 then you`re knackered!! This is the drawback of all in one systems I`m afraid, they are not designed with an upgrade path in mind!!

I presume then there is no "magic box" that converts optical to any other use (something with mirrors i imagine!) . OK , so basically if I want 5.1 I have to buy something. Is there a small , cheap "magic box" available out there ???!!!?? Please!!!

Yes there is - £20 from http://www.keene.co.uk - either optical to coaxial or vice versa (well, one of each - it ain`t that clever !)

Hmm, you`re right - doesn`t seem to be online.

Essentially you want item KAOC (optical to coaxial audio convertor) which is £20.
