from toys r us. The 3.4 gig baby. its a really good deal and all the components are of high quality. I love the tft and the wireless keyboar is superb.

One thing - this puppy is damn noisy. it sounds like a hoover. Ias this normal for P4 3.4Gig machines? Am thinking the fan might be dodgy as this is well noisy

Cheap fans!

You could look for some quiet ones perhaps and replace the current ones.

funny you should say that.. i check out a number of different places, but i couldnt find a cheaper alternative with the same spec. even if i built the thing myself it came to the same price so i think it was a good deal. graphics cards im not so bothered with as am not a gamer. i just wanted a beefed up machine that would be future proof (for a while at least)

I got the one they did just before Xmas after missing the Aldi one, and I`m glad I did. It was a 3.02ghz processor then, but a FX5600 graphics card. I too priced up all the bits at one of the shops that goes to our computer fair. It came to £1250, that`s without an operating system (a legit one) and software. So no way could it be done for the £1099 paid.

Good buy I reckon. :)

EDIT:
Oh by the way, mies pretty quiet, so you may have a fan problem. You just hear a bit of whirring from the exhaust thing on the side. The noisest part of it is when the DVD ROM drive spins up to full speed.

Mark. :)

You struggle to build decent spec PC`s now for less than the likes of Toys `r` Us can do them for..

Ste

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

I think overall it`s a good deal - agree that you would struggle to build it cheaper.

It`s nice to have someone else deal with the problem of sorting it out should it get messed up down the line as well.

Is this pc any good? I had a quick look in toysrus yesterday, but the cd/dvd trays appeared to be a bit fragile...seemed a bit cheap.

Also, the front panel, for access to the usb sockets etc, only worked every now and then. I do realise that this pc will have had the world and its dog fiddling with it, but it would be geeting a great deal of use from myself, too.

I am aware that this pc has a good spec for the money, but if the front panel fails to drop after a short period of time, then I would be very disappointed. I`ve got a couple of days off work, so I`m considering going and having a proper look at it. Also, what`s the monitor like? They didn`t have the monitor displayed at my local store.

i guess the dvd/cd flaps are a tad flimsy, but the drives are ace quality. pioneer and sony. also the front panel is fine... you are unlikely to be using that all of the time, so will take a fair amount of play.

downside - the noise. i took mine back to toysrus on sat, and had them open another one up, but i am told as it is 3.4 gig it needs a mighty fan - hence the noise. if you can be bothered to replace the fan, its a fantastic deal

the monitor is the best bit. altho its some dodgy brand - yakumo or something, it looks ace. the buttons are all quality and the resoultion is crystal. in fact, the monitor was the one thing i was most impressed with
