FREESERVE ANYTIME AGONY !!!!!!AAAARRRRGGGHHHHH

Hi is it just me but these days my Freeserve( wanadoo) anytime ordinary connection seems terrible.
Always jammed up , impossibly slow thats if I can even get on for more than a minute.
My comp is all sorted and OK, and you can get a reasonable job during the day but get towards tea time and the magical 6 `o` clock its hell on earth, on an evening it can be hell.Also early morns.
Is it just me.
Best hair pulling our net geek. Mark.

Putting on my Deerstalker, the evidence points to him being on Dial-up.

And theres only one piece of advice you can give to that. Alltogether........;

Get BroadBand!

On a lightly less facetious note, Freeserve/Wanapoo are notoriously bad for dial ups, with a massive contention rate. Contention rates are how many people are fighting for a connection. Obviously at peak times your are fighting more people for a spot. Try swapping ISPs, see if that makes any difference. Failing that, remove everything that induces signal noise (extra telephones attached, extension reels, excessively long cable) etc.

I was with Freeserve anytime all last year, and my 56kb connection never got higher than 44kb at anytime in the entire 8 months! The connection was always fine though.

a 56k modem will never connect much past 44k anyway. you should count yourself lucky you got that. I know a few freeservers that dont get much past 36!

I`ve been on Freeserve (Wanadoodoo) Anytime for ages. Very little trouble getting on and most times it`s a 45,333.
If your changing to Broadband with them don`t do anything but jump through their hoops in the right order. My Sis in Law got one of their one month trial Broadband packages and for a number of reasons never installed it.
Result about 9 months of being charged for both connections, denial of service etc.

Like a lot of companies now if it falls outside the normal loop they can`t cope with it.

My mum has been trying to get Freeserve broadband for months and they keep cancelling her order for no apparent reason, then she reorders and the system cancels it again. I keep telling her to give up and go elsewhere, but will she listen? :-D If their customer service is that bad before they get your money, what is it like after?

I was on Freeserve Anytime until recently and have now upgraded to Wanadoo Broadband at £17.99 per month. It really is worth the extra £3 if you are in a Broadband area, and it is very easy to upgrade - just go to Currys, Dixons or PC World and buy everything in a box with the first two months included for £35. Watch the billing system if you do upgrade, because it is rubbish and you may end up continuing to pay for Anytime, which has happened to me.

They are having a big push on Broadband and I could see that any company wanting to encourage their customers to switch could make their dial up service slower to make them consider it. Not that I`m suggesting that Wanadoo are doing this at the moment to you!
