nokia 3100, any good?

cirdan (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 14th September 2004, 03:16

im looking at getting the nokia 3100 and just want some feedack on it.

i dont use a mobile much, i do some texting and make a few calls and generally a £10 top up can last a while. so i dont want to be paying all that much for a phone. i have been looking online and in some shops over the past few days and this phone is around what i want to pay, between £60-70.

so just some info about the phone and what its like to use would be great.

I have a 3100. It`s a good little phone. I haven`t really had any problems with it.

The "hands free" microphone/speaker, means that you can speak to someone very cleary if you put it on the dashboard in front of you. Of course, I only use that feature when I`m not driving ... ahem.

many thanks. to be honest i dont really want to spend a great deal on a phone and ive seen this one for around £69, there are cheaper ones but i like the look of this one, and some of the cheaper ones are similar to the one ive already got so i want something a bit different.

any idea if you can part exchange an old phone when you get a new one. i probably wouldnt get much for it but anything would b a start, and it would only be stuck in a drawer somewhere.

cheers.

Cirdan - v.good phone - if you want an excellent for £70 try here - 750 mins off peak with T mobile. I and loads of folks I know have used FC and they`re excellent - cashback is quick within two months of getting the phone and you pay a fiver for 12 months of 750 mins.
Also, there`s ways to get peak calls for 10p x net and 2p at w/es if you`re interested. 8)

i have used o2 for a few years. probably for convenience and because i didnt know much about the other networks. for someone who is only using pay and go, texting a bit and making the odd phone call, is it worth changing networks, im thinking of getting it tomorrow when i go into town

cheers.

Cirdan - just a quick reply the Nokia 3100 from FC comes unlocked so you could just pop your O2 SIM in it - but the 750 deal gives you the free mins plus 50 free texts a month for £5 for the year. The only downside is forking out £270 first off and then getting £200 back two months later - just use a CC (0% preferably) and you`re laughing.

CarphoneWhouse will sell it at £90 and £20 off for your old phone if your have charger/manual and phone.

I`ve just got two phones from fwd cellular, T-Mobile 100 x-network anytime minutes. The deal was £79.99 for a Nokia 3100, pay the whole £265 12 month line rental to T-Mobile and then claim that back from fwd cellular. Do you send the T-Mobile bill(s) straight away to them or do you have to prove you`ve paid T-mobile first?

Thanks
