Assistance with Nokia 7600 Westy or anyone else
Can any of you gents if lurking today about provide the unlock code for a Nokia 7600.
I tried the code generator from unlockme.com & had 3 errors thus far, leaving as I understand it only 2 more goes, before a cable solution is required.
Edit I assumed it needed to be done sim free as per my Nokia 6310i, just tried sticking in the sim & leads me to "Enter Restriction Code"
Should the code go in at this point on this mobile?
Cheers muchly.
Never assume it makes a Ass out of u & me

RE: Assistance with Nokia 7600 Westy or anyone else
the 7600 (on 3) has some problems when unlocking remotely (ie, via code) it can be done, but the phone will still try to auto search for a 3g signal, this aparently becomes a Big problem when it encounters another networks 3g signal rather than the 2g signal you actualy want it to find, i don`t know the specifics, only what i`ve read here, but i gather the only way to really get it working properly is to get a factory reset, using one of those "clips" in other words, take it down to a "proper" unlocker it`ll probably cost about £10, this is the device i mean http://ucables.com/products/magic-boxes/ as i say, you can remotely unlock it, but going off other peoples experiences i`d get it flashed.
when you get it sorted pm me, i`ve got some stuff i`ll send you on disc :) & get yourself a bluetooth dongle (i think the 7600 has bluetooth )

RE: Assistance with Nokia 7600 Westy or anyone else
I unlocked my 7600 but haven`t reset it, at the moment it runs on O2 with no problems. I unlocked two of them with a code generator I found, I think, on the money saving expert forum. The site is called something like tryktill or similar? Both times using the instructions on the MSE thread it unlocked first go.

RE: Assistance with Nokia 7600, fully unlocked ..cant send mms"gprs conection not available"
I bought my 7600 on ebay,works great...except
Mines fully unlocked for dual and gsm modes, i`ve got the settings for o2, 3, vodafone and vodafone gprs, on the phone, and when i try to use my vodafone sim , for voice calls etc on vodapayasyougo, its fine, though i cant seem to send pictures to anyone by number, as it says "Gprs connection not available"..i have received a couple of tones via bluetooth and infrared ...i have no idea about all these networks, and what they are supposed to work with and what theyr`e not...
Only other thing i can think of , that it might be, is that i`ve not registered it yet, with 3,and i think it was originally part of a 3 package, from Amazon..Does this matter? do they have to actually "activate" the MMS capabilities of these phones on registration or something, usinmg the EMEI or whetever its called? and until then, they only work as normal text and voice?

Click on the UK flag for English. Full instructions are on MSE somewhere, but you use the 7th code.
Ogster, it was on 3, but at the mo O2 don`t have a 3 network, and if they did we probably wouldn`t get it :D Never tried the 3 sim in the phone at all.
RE: Assistance with Nokia 7600 Westy or anyone else
Thanks RU, that link to the code generator worked. :D
Interestingly the standalone code generator I had produced exactly the same codes, but with one digit`s value being +1 greater. :/
Its now working at the moment with Virgin (T-mobile) sim & we have a O2 sim ready to go if required should a 3G signal kick in. The factory reset may well be required later rather than sooner. :)
Thanks for all the input chaps (my thunking is miggy as well today) much appreciated & made a 12 year old quite happy.
Back to more editing of aged video tapes to DVD. :/

RE: Assistance with Nokia 7600 Westy or anyone else
i could be wrong, but i don`t think virgin have any 3g support at all, in fact i think they only recently launched gprs, so i reckon you`re safest on virgin (tho as i say, i could be wrong ;) )
EDIT= brianjwarby, if you`re on voda try here for the mms settings http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/commerce/servlet/gben-server-PageServer?ARTICLE=STATIC.MMS_PAGE&NODE_ID=6621#How_to if it works you should recieve a text that will setup the phone for you.

RE: Assistance with Nokia 7600 Westy or anyone else
Virgin = T-Mobile, but that subset of the customer base may not be on 3g (yet).
As stated we have O2 sims & can see to a factory reset if required, but he`s up & running & getting to be a right royal pain with his camera\sound recordings already.

RE: Assistance with Nokia 7600 Westy or anyone else
Glad it worked for you, I had no problems with my two :)
I don`t know about Vodaphone, but O2 provided me a sim with free WAP, but didn`t enable the WAP until I emailed and asked them. Now what is the point of that :D I now have GPRS, but haven`t worked out how to send MMS yet. Doesn`t really bother me though, as my mates mostly have primative phones, and its cheaper to get them onto the pc and email. :D
