Hi

the first thing that i would personally do is disconnect your pc from
your modem and then connect the pc to one of the routers LAN ports
via a length of Cat5e ethernet cable.

next, go into control panel>network connections and double click the icon
which is relevant to your pc`s network adaptor (usually called Local Area Connection)
under the tab entitled "general" you should see a few descriptions within a scroll
type box. scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

right click on that and select properties.

ensure that the adaptor is set to obtain an IP address automatically and also to
obtain its DNS automatically.

once you have done this, click apply, ok etc.

next, click on start>run then type cmd then press enter. this will bring up the
command prompt. at the prompt, type ipconfig /release you should now see
a list of values for IP / Default Gateway etc....they should all be zero`s.

next, type ipconfig /renew and press enter. this will force your pc to obtain
an IP address from the router.

once this step has been completed, type ipconfig /all and press enter. you should
now see that your pc has a new IP address. make a note of the value for the default
gateway. it will look something like 192.168.x.x (x.x being other numbers)

exit from the command prompt and then go into internet explorer and type in the
address that you have just noted in this form http://192.168.x.x and press
enter.

hopefully, you will now see a login page for your router.....from what i can see on
the web, the router you have is based on a "conexant" type of chipset.
apparently the password could also be conexant. although this may not
be the case. a lot of routers simply use the word admin as a user name
and password as the password.

may be worth a try?

let us know how you get on.

Ste.

........is that gasoline i smell?

IP address of 10.0.0.2 on most Conexant routers if mine is anything to go by.

A quick Google of Mentor took me indirectly to here on how to set up & configure.

Once you get it up & running go to here & run the Shields up test & test your security, one thing I did notice while Googling is that there appears to be no in-built firewall.
