Page 1 of Firefox Problem

When I close down FF after a session it is still running in the background. My firewall and Task Manager tell me so. When inactive but with FF open on a blank page there seems to be a lot of HD activity.
I have done every virus and spyware available, Stinger, Hijack this etc. etc. etc. Nothing.
Any ideas?

Memory leak. Ctrl+ALT+Delete to bring up the task manager, go to the processes tab and look for firefox.exe (or similar). You`ll probably find that its taking up a lot of memory and maybe clock cycles too.
Its the only s*** thing about firefox and they dont seem to have fixed it yet. It only happens to me after some tab heavy browsing with PDFs or videos in a few tabs. Im convinced its caused by one of the plug ins, but ive got so many I cant be arsed to track it down, ive just got into the habit of CtrlAltDeleteing after a browsing session.
What im listening to (if youre interested)
I am having an indentical problem with the new Windows Media Beta; after closing, it`s still there in the task manager.
I have no idea what to do to solve it, can find no people experiencing the same either.
Would a reinstall help?
Neil.
Thanks for reply. I close FF using the Task Manager, but it is a bit boring it running in the background.
Windows Media closes for me once closed.

I get that too. Another problem is settings (prefs and history/favourites) dissapearing/becoming corrupted after a period of time into installation. Happened on 3 different builds, 3 different installations across 2 different computers
mozilla is NOT perfect. At least IE stays fairly stable during its time installed
Favourites are backed up for you now though.... :)
Sometimes the built-in search engines disappear too. Easy to get back.
Still way ahead of IE..

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..
Had this problem with heavy use of FF too however outlook seems to also behave that way occasionally.Assumed it was a window OS problem ?
FF has gone crazy again, so much so it is unusable. It doesn`t close down but now it also keep making "noise", like I imagine a virus would if it ran through your system. No updates have changed this and uninstalled all extensions.
Any ideas?
