How`s this for customer service?
A week ago, I ordered changing lanes on R1 dvd from Amazon.com. I received the dispatch e-mail on the 18th September, with the item due to arrive on the 25th (today). Yesterday, I was sent an e-mail saying this:
Hello from Amazon.com.
We`re writing to confirm that we have processed your refund for
$22.00 for the above-referenced order.
This amount should appear as a credit on your next credit card statement.
For more information about this refund, please visit Your Account
to view the above-referenced order.
Completed returns and refunds will appear at the bottom of the order
summary page.
We hope that this is a satisfactory resolution for you.
Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com.
Hmm.. thought I, so I checked my account and was moved to write this back:
I have just received an email from you informing me that I
have been refunded $22.00 in reference to the above order. As I had
not requested any refund, I logged onto my account to investigate.
It would appear that I have somehow Returned this item (Changing
Lanes DVD) to you, this is very odd as I haven`t even received it.
As my account shows, I am in the UK, and the expected delivery date
was from tomorrow, the 25th September, to the 1st October. As today
is the 24th, That should be proof enough that not only did I not
receive the goods, I would not have had time to return them to you.
I also note from my account that my credit card has been charged
$31.47, but has only been refunded $22.00, which means I have been
charged $9.47 for something that hasn`t even set foot on English soil.
So to close. I DO wish to receive this item, but I DO NOT wish to be
charged for non-existant items.
Your prompt response would be appreciated.
..so I waited, I only had to wait about 12 hours before I got this...
First, let me apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
After researching the order, I have found that it was shipped on
September 17 and was returned on September 19. Unfortunatelyl, I am
unable to determine the reason for the return. It appears that a
refund in the amount of $22.00 was issued to the credit card on
September 24.
In an attempt to resolve the matter, I have created a replacement
order for "Changing Lanes" The replacement order number is # XXX-XXXX-XXX The credit card will be charged for $22.00, the
amount of the refund on the original order. I have also upgraded the
shipping for the order to Priority International shipping at not
additional cost.
When the package has been shipped, we`ll send you an e-mail message
confirming the date, contents, and method of your shipment.
In addition to our large selection, one of the benefits we try very
hard to offer our customers is convenience, and we have not met that
standard in this case. Please accept my sincere apologies.
Well, I`m impressed

RE: How`s this for customer service?
ooohh the banter!!!
RE: How`s this for customer service?
The lesson here is that while Amazon may not always be the cheapest, when they mess up (which they can do spectacularly) they always pull out the stops to fix it.
RE: How`s this for customer service?
Credit when credits due, atleast thay try to make amends when thay do f*** up unlike some `Other` online retailers.
