moviemonsteruk (Competent) posted this on Sunday, 17th November 2002, 11:40

I`ve been using play for about a year now and have never encounted a problem until recently. On my last two order`s I,ve received discs which have not been sealed and the cover and disc has been in a poor condition . Has anyone had this problem before .

I have since sent them back and have been refunded the postage costs and as now awaiting my replacements .

Never encountered this before with Play and I`ve used them for a few years.

Same here... used them for about 2 years and never had any problems like that (or any problems at all come to think of it!).

Yes unfortunately. It`s happened 5-6 times to me recently. During the 18 months I`ve used Play, that`s the only quibble so far, but it`s really irritating when you pay and expect brand new discs.

this month I too received what looks like a second hand disk, no seal, case worn, no leaflet inside, disk marked and scratched. I returned the dvd as received to play.com, they refunded postage, and after a week they have sent me back the same dvd/case (looks like they`ve given the dvd a wipe). only extra is what looks like a second hand leaflet inside (torn and creased). not had any problems with play.com before this.

anybody had any success getting play.com to replace second hand dvda? surely play.com are misrepresenting by passing used dvds off as new?

I can`t believe just how quickly play have gone downhill. I used to order all my stuff from them, but with all the problems I`ve had with them in the past 3 months I can`t say I`ll ever be ordering from them again.

Just received a DVD from Play which was on special offer (The Road To El Dorado). No sealed wrapping on it and definitely seemed to have been used -- no scratches, just fingermarks which cleaned off. Also, the case was in a bit of a state. Played OK so I kept it. However, I don`t think I`ll be ordering from Play anymore either. There are other excellent e-tailers out there that don`t pull this sort of stunt!
