RE: Darts - what a load of pap.......

If you don`t like it, don`t watch it! It`s called freedom of choice.

RE: Funny goings on at CD-Wow!

I got it in my order history too. Don`t think it`s anything to worry about.

RE: CD WOW Promo Emails

Niteowl,

I just tried the link and it worked for me. Came up with the page just the same as if you click using the promo email.

RE: CD WOW Promo Emails

I have a nice long list of CD`s and DVD`s on order to prove it :D :D :D No tricks were used, I simply kept clicking on the links until I got £5 discount. It wasn`t even difficult -- they came up every 5 or so attempts.

Having said that, I`ve now been trying for at least an hour and can`t get more that 50p off !!

RE: CD WOW Promo Emails

So far today, I`ve managed to get £5 off eleven times!!! Found it relatively easy to get early this afternoon, but now can`t seem to get more than 50p off. Gonna keep trying as this is taking care of Xmas presents very nicely..... :D :D :D

RE: Sheryl Crow live

If you like her on Rockin` The Globe, you`re going to love the new one - she looks and sounds absolutely stunning!! No DTS on this new DVD, but the DD5.1 track sounds just fine.

I have the CD/DVD combo of her greatest hits too. Great value for money, but a shame about the sound drop-out on Everyday Is A Winding Road. Don`t let this put you off getting it, it still sounds and looks OK, and for a DVD that essentially only cost £2.00, it`s a great deal.

RE: Sheryl Crow live

I`d recommend that you check out her new live DVD C`mon America Live 2003. It`s excellent and very good value at £10.99 at Playusa.com. AFAIK, it`s only available on R1.

RE: Let it be naked - copy controlled.

Mine is also the 2-disc version.

RE: Let it be naked - copy controlled.

My copy is not copy controlled. Bought it from Asda on the day of release. I wonder if they have just introduced it or whether it was only on some discs.

RE: hifibitz

Very good retailer! I have bought cables and other stuff from them. Excellent, very quick service.

RE: matrix reloaded r1

Mine doesn`t (Sony 725). I now almost always buy R1 versions as I seem to be sensitive to pitch and the PAL speed up.

RE: Lion King - Platinum Edition now shipping!

Got mine today from CD-WOW. It`s superb!!

RE: Sound on T2

Have to agree with Deals on this one. My R1 copy of T2 UE shakes the room with bass on the DTS track. The DD track is slightly flat sounding, but there`s still plenty of bass on my set up.

RE: CD-WOW - Customer Service to Die For!!

My experiences with them have been the same. Great prices and superb service! Easily the best e-tailer around.

RE: Led Zeppelin DVD

Thanks Kevin. I guess that rules out mine just being a single faulty DVD.

Anyone got the R2 version that can confirm whether the same problem is there or not?

Cheers,

Steve

RE: Led Zeppelin DVD

Thanks Richard.

It sounds a little like distortion on the centre channel and it is also on the previous track, but not quite as noticeable. Only appears to be present on the Dolby Digital track.

Look forward to hearing what you find.

Cheers,
Steve

Led Zeppelin DVD

On the last track of Disc One (Bring It On Home), has anyone noticed a slight crackling noise coming from the centre speaker in the first few minutes of the song on the DD5.1 track?

It doesn`t seem to be there on the DTS or Stereo tracks.

Mine is an R1 version and I`m trying to figure out if it`s my equipment or a faulty disc or a fault on the master.

Cheers,

Steve

RE: Recommend a freeview box.

Bought the Thomson today from Argos. Nice looking product. Really easy to connect and set up, and great picture.

RE: Harry Potter and the chamberpot of secrets - arrived this morning!

Received mine on Saturday morning from Movietyme. Looks and sounds excellent.

RE: What are your ten favourite albums?

In no particular order:

The Wall - Pink Floyd
Automatic For The People - R.E.M.
The Hunter - Jennifer Warnes
Hotel California - The Eagles
Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
Free - Free
So - Peter Gabriel
White Ladder - David Gray
Simply Red - Simply Red
New Moon Shine - James Taylor

RE: Play.com - Conspiracy Theory

Good business sense IMO.

RE: Play.com Moral Issue ??

Same thing has happened to me a couple of times. So far, I have always alerted Play (by phone) and sent them back. Way I look at it is that they treated me fairly and sent a replacement without any quibbles, so I should at least be honest with them.

Steve

RE: How many DVDs do you own????

Snap!!! Just reached the 200 mark myself. Congratulations to both of us!

RE: Order history @ play247

It`s not just DVD`s, my order history also includes CD`s (I`m a music fanatic)! It`s now at 21 pages long and just about to go to 22 pages.

I only have one DVD boxset (Alien), so they`re not the problem. The really sad thing is I also have a significant order history with CD-Wow.

Must stop buying!!!!

RE: Order history @ play247

Oops! I just checked mine and since July 2000, my total is £2,335. I reckon I should qualify for at least one free DVD!!

Must stop buying!!!!

RE: Surround EX/ES Upgrade Problem...

Adam,

Maybe I misunderstood your post, but when you say your back wall can`t hold two more speakers, are you saying you already have some speakers on it?

Steve

RE: Help! Need new player!

I have had a multi-region (multimod) Sony DVD Player (DVP725D) purchased from Richer Sounds for over 2-years. In that time, it has never failed to play perfectly any disc (I have over 200 DVD`s), including all the so called difficult ones, e.g. Matrix, SPR, Dinosaur, Toy Story 1&2, etc.

Sound and picture are still superb today. When it comes to replacing the player near the end of this year (I took the 50% trade in option with Richer), I`ll probably just go for another Sony as when I read various forums, they still seem to have less problems than players from other manufacturers.

Steve

RE: Play.com

Don`t pretend to understand this, but I`ve never had a problem with them replying to emails. Always had a reply within 24 hours. For a while last year, they were murder to contact by phone, but that also seems to have improved lately.

Wonder why some people have problems and others don`t? I know they have two different order/shipping systems (I think this explains why you sometimes get an email saying something has posted and sometimes you don`t), but do they have two different call centres?

Steve

RE: Brit Awards - sound quality

Sounded total crap on my system too. I`d guess it was the broadcast quality.
