Cheap online PC Hardware retailer

Hi,

I know this isnt about DVD retailers but I am sure many of the readers are PC owners/tinkerers.

I discovered www.ebuyer.com a few months ago and I just thought I should share this with you guys. Most of my PC mates agree that the prices are generally below average - with some occasional bargains.
Example: AllinWonder Radeon 32MB AGP - Dabs:£247 , ebuyer:£142 !!!

They tend to undercut people like Simply and Dabs by a worthwhile (in my opinion) margin on most things and offer a free 3 day delivery (100+vat orders). My past 3 orders using the free delivery option have arrived the next day.

They also do occasional weekend deals where the prices are genuinely discounted further for the weekend.

I haven`t had to use their customer services much so cant really comment too much. Although on my last order on of the items was incorrectly supplied (two similarly named heatsinks) - they told me to keep the wrong item - worth £12 - and sent me the correct one within a few days.

They sell some software too - bought Metal Gear Solid PC for £11+vat - cheapest I could find.

Check it out and decide for yourselves..

I can assure I have no connection to ebuyer except as a customer.

I`m gonna show off now... http://www.buy.com

CD writer - no name Taiwan manufacturer : 12 X 10 X 32 = £54 with a voucher : wait a few weeks and it`ll come. Oh - BURNproof too - been running mine for 3 weeks and no coasters yet.

HP 970cxi printer - Jubgle £185, dabs £180, Buy.com - erm £60.... arrived today, free ink cartridge, photo paper, the lot...It may be obselete, but initial findings are great.

People - these bargains are out there - you just have to foresake your personal life, your loved ones, your football team, etc etc to get `em...

The £30 off £60 spend ones ended ages ago, sadly.

Current ones for new users only are

£10 off £20 spend or more (I believe there are two doing the rounds)
£15 off £30 spend or more

I`ll have a dig around and post the official, non-affiliated links back here soon.

Clayts - 970cxi obsolete? Are you sure? Buy has it down at full price again now..... I`ve got the 930.... great printer....

Re ebuyer - I was pleased with the prices and turnaround time, UNTIL there was a problem... I bought some DAT backup tapes from them the other week, and 4 of the 6 came coated in an oily substance (probably oil!!). 3 emails... no reply (I gave them several days to reply). Eventually hung on the phone for 15 minutes (you are... 12th in the queue...) and got through to someone, who "needed to talk to the technical department"). After they got back to me, I was told I had to ring Sony direct, and was given a number..... for a company that DON`T do Sony stuff anymore. They gave me a number in Germany to call.... which was not recognised.
Emailed ebuyer and started mentioning customer rights, and so on, but not heard anything yet....

Not sure I`ll use them again...

ahh clays, you must mean you`ve got the Liteon drive....... yes I also bought that little beauty after reading the tread over at the Forums... damn fine drive it is too hey... and for that price, what a bargain!

Did you get the 10 free CDR`s they promised??? it arrived in a box about 1 foot high and wide by 1 and half foot long... how stupid are they... plus they used Citylink (probably the worst delivery service in the world!)

I got the LiteOn drive also from buy.com. Still waiting for the 10 free CD`s though. Some cock up with the product description. (It now states 1 free CD-R instead of 10) They promised they`d send me the remaining 9- still waiting after 4 weeks... Great drive though!
