And finally hack to turn off macrovision:-

Press Open, then Setup, then Mute, then Last, then Next to get to the service menu, where you can select All Regions. You can also switch off the Macrovision from here.

no rat at all - only trying to be helpful !! It took me ages to find a dvd player like this, i just wanted to share this, as it can be confusing out there when trying to get a good deal! - Iain

This should probably be in the Hardware Forum - it`s not a bargain, nor is it related to any particular retailer.

I don`t think there`s anything sinister going on here, though :-)
