Is SVP still the best place to buy blank media?

Brian Elliott (Reviewer) posted this on Thursday, 30th April 2009, 10:58

I need to pick up some CD-Rs and DVD-Rs, and in the past, I`ve always used SVP. However, with deals at Play.com and Amazon Marketplace getting better and better, is it still the best place to pick up your media?

Thanks.

I`ve never had any problems with them and they always have a great range. Only thing is the postage price means it`s usually better to double up or get some for friends/family. Others may have had issues but any I`ve ever had have been sorted out great. :)
Orders over £30 often get cheaper postage at weekends. 99p?..

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

They haven`t had a 99p shipping deal for quite a while now, TBH if I just want a single spindle I now buy from Play or Amazon

I`ll still use them, & when I need cases I`ll order discs as well, but I begrudge paying SVP a fiver for delivery when I can get it an order sent from somewhere else for free

I did order a single 25 disc spindle of DL dvd`s from them a couple of weeks ago. this is what they charged me-

Delivery: £3.47
Subtotal: £11.07
VAT: £1.66
TOTAL: £12.73

I needed the discs in a hurry, but I would have rather bought them elsewhere. I did get them quick, I guess that`s what you are paying for.

SVP are still good, but last few spindles of DVD-RW, DVD-R, CD-Rs I`ve bought were from play, as others have said with the P&P SVP`s prices aren`t so good any more. Play often have Maxell`s 3 for 2 on offer which I don`t have a problem with in PCs or Panasonic DVD recorder.

Actually I think the last time I used SVP was when I wanted dual layer discs.

It`s the delivery that`s bothering me because the courier to Northern Ireland usually ends up over £10.

Last time when I wanted some blank Dvds, I ended up using Play.com as it was the better that way as it included postage.

I`ve ended up using Play.com this time too, and it`s worked out a lot cheaper. I used to always buy Datawrite or RiDisc printable pastel ones as they`re really nice but since my last batch SVP have stopped selling them. :(

I`ve always used Datawrites from SVP as well, but ended up getting Maxells from Play.

Thanks everyone!

I certainly will not use SVP for blank media.

Got some rather poor ones from them a few months back and they were less than helpful.

Play and Amazon have never sold me such poor discs so I will continue to use them.
