Page 1 of Fancy Multi Region, MP3 playback, CDR/RW play and VCD?...read on!

Well, I`ve just found a hack tonight that works with the LG 3350 to make it multi region.

I found it on the net as a test to the firmware, but have successfully played my Toy Story2 R1 !!

The player does MP3/ CDR/ CDRW/ VCD and of course, DVD / CD
All for £250!!!

Well Dukey, the one I got in my shop is happily running them...but this may be a one off...dunno!

The hack is the standard "LG updated firmware instructions, believe it or not!!
(and I`ve only tried it on the one in my store, so anyone else who has access to a 3350, please try it and find out if Dukey is right)

Press "Pause"
Press " 3 1 4 1 5 9"
(display now shows CODE - - )
Enter required region code,press "pause", power off, wait a tick, power back on!!

Like I sed, Toy Story 2 R1 played very happily after this was done!

This is the same code as supplied by Techtronics to manually set the region using their multi-region modification (which I suspect is simply a tweaked version of the firmware).

Where did this machine come from? Have you flashed it with an updated/hacked firmware? What was the source of this net info?

VCD? Please tell me more. What title was this? Commercial release or home-made?

Will this Hack work on a LG 3200E, Will it play R1 CDs, Does anyone have an LG 3200E they can try it on. My purchasing of buying one is hanging on this question

OK guys..time for me to backpeddle, and for Dukey to scream "I told ya sooooo!"

When I checked out the hack, I asked someone else in the store to try a VCD, and gave him some VCD and CD discs to find out how it performed with both.
What did the twat check? You got it...the CD!!

I checked it again myself tonight. Multi Region playback works fine, no problems with that one.
CD also fine..but yes Dukey, you are right..no VCD playback! :(
(And I was just about to stick one on me Visa if it had worked!)

What where lg thinking of making a dvd player that could play mp3`s and CD`s but not VCD, okay I know DVD`s are what it is really for but how hard is it to make a player VCD compatible, when it does audio CD`s.

Surely it must be there, except the firmware doesnt support it?

or the only other possibility is that LG had trouble with VCD playback!
