RE: Car Tryre Recommendation

Bowfer, what sort of mileage do you get out of these? I`m in the market for something to replace the Continentals on my Mondeo that have only done 11,500 miles - I was looking at the Pilot Sports as well - I`ve always got around 20K out of Michelins in the past.

Cheers,

Fletch

RE: 24 series 1-4, £17.99 each at play

Me too.... It`s available elsewhere on the site at £34.99 but not on "Promotional Price" whatever that means. Ordered mine, cheers for the heads up.

RE: Redundancy and Pensions

There is a link between pension and redundancy, but it`s not quite as straight forward as that. I presume this is statutory redundancy rather than any sort of voluntary arrangement, in which case yes, the paymment could potentially be reduced or even wiped out, but only if she is over 64.

From the DTI website: Quote:
If you are aged 64 or over, your redundancy payment will be reduced by one-twelfth for each complete month you are over 64. This means that if you are 65 or over you will not be entitled to any payment.

There`s a fair bit of info on there, in a reasonably user friendly format HERE

RE: You need a new Vehicle registration document, apparently.

I`ve a feeling it`s actually renewing your tax that triggers the new certificate. We got one of ours about 6 months ago, and the other a couple of weeks ago which would tie in as I renewed the tax at the end of last month.

RE: Argos Spiderman 2 Dvd £7.49

Cheers for the heads up Speedyman. Just picked one up in Halifax - they still had another 12 in stock. Now just have to find the time to watch it.

Oh, and congrats by the way!

RE: LOTR. THE RETURN OF THE KING 4 DISC SET CHEAP!!!!

Ordered - Excellent spot, cheers! :)

RE: where should i live in leeds?

I`d be tempted to go for north Leeds if you can afford it. Chapel Allerton is a happening place, more young professional than student I`d say. Plenty of pubs & restaurants within walking distance. Have to agree with PorlCooper, I`m from Moortown myself :)

RE: POP UP ADVERTS ARE KILLING ME

Same here, I use zone alarm pro at home and it works a treat.

Our firewall at work doesn`t deal with them at all, I had five on here one after another when I first logged on, and I`ve just had another. Our system is locked up so tight there`s no way I can download the Google toolbar :(

RE: First and Last DVD you bought

First - Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, August `99

Last - Once Upon a Time in The West. Still on it`s way (SLOWLY) from Splash! >:(

RE: Alien Quadrilogy £27.99 Woolworths - instore.

Cheers Kozza - Same story in sunny Halifax - marked up at £54 and the staff didn`t know anything about it. Scanned through at £27.99. Absolute bargain! :)

RE: CD-WOW - Some chart CD`s £6.99. Blue, Pink, Westlife etc

Cheers for the heads up, a couple of theses are on my niece`s Christmas list :)

RE: PLAY - Where is my Matrix Reloaded? Ordered 3 weeks ago...

Personally I can`t fault play, and just recently they seem to be doing better than ever. Ordered two disks from them last week, one on Sunday night - arrived Wednesday and Reloaded on Tuesday which arrived Friday. :)

RE: TAKEN DVD BOXSET £29.99 @CHOICES

Strange, it`s working now - managed to order one. Cheers for the heads up. :) Haven`t seen it myself but heard good things - there`s a review on this site, HERE

RE: TAKEN DVD BOXSET £29.99 @CHOICES

Tried ordering this - it keeps coming up at £44.99 :(

RE: Philips DVD/VCR £99

Mine`s apparently arrived this morning - haven`t had chance to check my CC yet but even at £99 it`s a steal. It`s in the new Argos catalogue at £229 and the cheapest I spotted it on the web was about £180! :)

RE: Philips DVD/VCR £99

Cheers Viki, managed to log on now. Mine says it`s been dispatched, and the price is £79.99 + p&p. Bargain!

Fletch

RE: Philips DVD/VCR £99

Can`t seem to access "my account" using the customer number they emailed me so I can`t tell what`s going on :(

Anybody received theirs yet?

Fletch

RE: SplashDVD? I hope they drown!

Hope they don`t vanish before they send me the remaining 8 disks outstanding from 28th July >:(

Fletch

RE: Philips DVD/VCR £99

Excellent spot, cheers - been thinking about getting one of these to replace my VCR which is on it`s last legs. Not too bothered about multiregion but if it is hackable all the better. Ordered one 5 mins ago and just received confirmation - let`s see whether it arrives or not....

RE: Splash Sale

Pete, I think you are right. The Channel Islands are not part of the EEA, and theoretically anything being imported is subject to duty and VAT. All such items come into the UK via the Royal Mail sorting office at Mt Pleasant where some bod has the nice job of examining all the customs declarations. They once conveniently "lost" a whole pallet from Play for about three weeks. Having said that, I ordered about 13 disks from Splash on 29th July, and all the ones I have had despatch emails for arrived reasonably quickly (about four so far)

Sounds like some are being sent out without the email, so maybe I`d better check the order status on the missing ones to make sure they haven`t been sent.

Anybody else having trouble with R2 Chicken Run?

Have Region 2 [disctitle]Chicken Run[/disctitle] which is now about 3 years old, and refuses to play beyond chapter 19. I get major pixellation and sound dropouts. Used to play fine on my main machine (Panny A360) Will not play at all on my PC DVD-ROM.

I see it was mastered by the infamous Technicolour.

Anyone having similar problems?

RE: 24 Season 2 from Splash DVD

Just checked - mine reckons it`s shipped today too!

Fletch

RE: 24 Season 2 from Splash DVD

Mine still shows as being processed too - the last entry on the order history is them taking the dosh on 1 August. I`m not expecting it anytime soon.

Out of the 13 or so I ordered on 31 July, only one has so far turned up. :(

RE: Problem with SplashDVD £2-off offer.

Hmm,

Against better judgement I went on a bit of a spree last night. Ordered first four series of Cold Feet for the Mrs, and the entire season 4 of Stargate SG1 for myself (in the sale, at £4.66 per disk with the discount)

All went through fine, and I have a dozen or so confirmation emails all showing the correct price. Will have to wait and see how much I get charged but I`ll be pretty p*ssed if it`s the full amount. >:(

Apart from being a little on the slow side (it`s amazing that you can get items from CD-WOW in HK in three days, and you have to wait a couple of weeks for in stock stuff to arrive from Jersey!) I`ve never had any problems with these guys.

RE: Dyson vac cleaners

Alan, if you want something to wash your carpets, have a look at a Bissell ProTech deep cleaner - cleans much better than a Vax and not as hard work. Have had one since Christmas and it gets fairly regular use (thanks to small children & pets) (Not cheap tho - cheapest I can find is QVC - item no 819458 - about £250 delivered) Doesn`t vac, only washes, so you`ll still need a vac as well.

RE: 3 CD-drives, 2 Hard-drives; how can I connect these all to my motherboard?

That`s correct, you have to actually enable the RAID via software. If you just connect your hard drives to the ports, you should be able to see them as normal.

Unless you actually enable the RAID, it`s just a couple of extra IDE ports.

RE: PC advice needed please guys...

Took a look at that link - didn`t realise these things had got so cheap! I reckon if you install the card but don`t connect your disks to it yet, and then boot into Windows, you should be able to install any necessary software. Once the drivers are installed, shut down and connect your hard disks to the ports on the card. Should then be ok.
