excellent battery operated DVD cleaner for
about £25.As far
as lens cleaners
go, you could try TDK.Most lens cleaners now have sound
system diagnostic checks built in.

Thanks for the advice,the HS2 is only compatible with type 2 PC Cards.

I`ve tried PC World..no luck..and all the computer shops I`ve rung have been useless.

Thanks for your reply mate! Should I go for the HS2 or upgrade to the new 100? I`d use a HDD machine to replace VHS and record a lot of music programmes (Proms etc).I did have a Philips DVDR70 but I`ve ditched it as I`ve had the same problems as everyone else! On the Philips,I used the 2 hour recording mode.

Log on to IMDB.COM and search for films from 1994 in the French language.Some titles carry summaries of the plot so you might get lucky.

Do I go for the Panasonic DMR E-100 at £750 and stick with my old Digibox or upgrade my Digibox to Sky+ and go for a vanilla DVD recorder?

I`m indebted to Greg WW for explaining the significance of the boat at the end of the movie.I`ve got the books and plan to read them during 10 days off for the festive break.As for the film,well it crowns the greatest movie trilogy ever.AWESOME! As for the fuss about Christopher Lee,I agree with Jackson cutting out a supposed 7 minute opening scene between Saruman and Grima Wormtongue.I need to see the film again,but agree with other contributors that the extended DVD will be the icing on the cake.As Oscar goes,if ROTK wins it will be a gesture rather than the Academy really embracing cinema as art.
That having been said,I hope it cleans up!

I have just bought a PS2 for my Son for Christmas.I note that you can buy a network adaptor.Does this allow broadband internet surfing as well as gaming? If so,is my only task to get my telephone company NTL to provide a connection?

Philips engineers say that the DVDR70 does NOT possess an AGC.At least 2 (and probably more) cheesed off consumers have been told the machines are faulty! It doesn`t inspire confidence in Philips workmanhip does it?

Philips say that the R70 does NOT have an AGC.This is why they claim that we have faulty machines.I tried to copy home-recorded VHS and SVHS tapes onto DVD.

NOT REALLY!
This forum will tell you all about the problems we 70 users have.
It records well enough off Sky (for no more than 2.5 hours without sacrificing picture quality) but makes a total pig`s breakfast of recording off videotape.It plays about with the contrast and bleaches out whites.A contact I recently made via this forum has exactly the same problems.Philips reckon that we both have faulty machines!There are also serious doubts about the 70`s long-term reliability.
I`m trying hard to get mine exchanged....is yuor mind made up?

ANY TIPS FOR SANTA?

What do I get my 5 year old Son for Christmas,an X-Box or PS2?...bearing in mind that his old man likes racing,golf,and snooker games!

not.

about advising
my retailer that

I`M GIVING SERIOUS THOUGHT TO BUYING A PIONEER NS-DV1000.MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT IT PERFORMS WELL MUSICALLY WITH CD/DVD-A AND SACD.I PREVIOUSLY HAD A PHILIPS LX8000SA WHICH WAS GOOD DVD WISE BUT PANTS MUSICALLY!IT WAS SO BAD IN FACT THAT I`VE RETURNED IT TO THE RETAILER AND ALL BETS ARE OFF!

PLEASE REPLY WITH YOUR REASSURANCES!!
