CAN ANYONE OUT HERE PROVIDE ME WITH A SAFE REGION HACK FOR THE ABOVE PHILIPS DVD RECORDER?

Hello!

I can tell you how to make your R70 accept a specific region, but you have to change everytime you want to view a different region.

please feel free to describe how to do this. Just bought a DVDR-70 myself and changing regions by hand might be enough for me (still have my old multizone Philips in the other room, so I`ll only need to do this occasionally anyway)

First I want to say that I´m very interested myself to know if anyone knows the trick to make it multi-regional.

Ok here it goes!

You enter the system menu with your remote.
There you change the remote settings to DVD-player(not recorder)
You press PLAY and 159
-- -- -- --- appears
enter the numbers 12 12 12 005 00X (x stands for the region you want) There are not enough ------ for the numbers to fit but it doesn´t matter.
Press PLAY
Turn the DVD off for 10 seconds and there you are. A DVD with the desired region. Don´t forget to set the remote back to recorder.

=======!WARNING!========

You may find that the Recorder locks up after about 25 region changes there for it would be adviseable to hack the player to multi-region, this why, you will not have the worry of it locking up to the last region set.

Thank you John72 for that information! I would not like to be the reson a player went useless.

I was informed that to mulit-hack R70 you need to make an upgrade with a CD. Proberbly avaliable in the end of the summer.

Thanks John, I`ll wait and see for now then :-) Have a perfectly good multizone dvd player, so no direct need to hack the recorder. Don`t want to take any risks.

All Philips players/recorders can be hacked with a 1 for all remote to multi-region without any problems.

And what model of 1 for all do I need to use?

Do you know any way with philips multi-remote RU880 or RU885?

I HAVE A DVDR 70 PHILIPS RECORDER, DO YOU HAVE ANY INFO, IT RECORDS FROM SKY ALL RIGHT BUT NOT SKY BOX OFFICE IT COMES UP COPY PROT.
I CAN RECORD SKY TO SKY BOX OFFICE ON VIDEO, I JUST NEED TO KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF THE COPY PROT, SO I CAN RECORD OFF SKY BOX.
