RE: problems with JVC DR-M10S "LOADING"

I have a DR-M10S which was factory refurbished. I have had the LOADING error happen many times in the 5 months I`ve had the machine, but it always goes back to normal after a few minutes and my pushing the eject button.

This might not be any help to the problem at hand, but I notice the error happening only when there is a smudge on the blank disc. Once the laser hits the smudge, on goes the LOADING error with blue light flashing.

I just try to make sure the disc surface is clear of smudges before placing it in the tray to avoid the flashing and such. And it has been a long while since I had the LOADING error. It is a good machine otherwise.

Does anyone know the name of the Scottish woman who played the reporter in the seige episode? I`m trying to work out where I`ve seen her before.

It`s great we finally have a show that can stand up with the superior American shows but will we ever take the challenge of producing 13, 15, 22 or even 24 episodes for a season?



Please don`t, if you look at the US shows closely, there are only 10 good episodes in each series (if that). The good episodes are shown during the "sweeps" months February and May. The other two good eps start out the season....If you can find enough writers to create quality material, then that`s all well and good.

Are there enough good telewriters or even play writers in the UK to sustain a full American season of any British show?

I`m starting to get the shudders about this series and not in a nice way-can somebody reassure me it won`t be all "wink, wink, arn`t we clever?"

I know there can never be an answer unless Chris Eccleston blurts it all out in an interview, but is it possible that Chris E saw what was coming and bailed out because of it?

Personally I liked the edginess CE gave the Doctor, the Christmas Invasion didn`t give me enough of an impression of David Tennant to see what kind of Doctor he will make. But I definitely liked Chris and was sorry to learn he left the series.

Just got the dvd of the four remaining episodes from my friend in the UK (does the happy dance around the room). Guess I know how I will fill the time between now and when House returns to Fox TV tonight. :D

I`ll get the reg 2 dvd when it comes out, the extras are just too good to resist.

It could be interesting to watch what happens with this show. It`s probably approaching cult status on either coast of the US now. I have yet to hear of watching parties, but this show would be perfect for it. People can come to the viewing dressed in 70s outfits and eating food popular during that era. Oops sorry, I was channeling my friend who lives in the Castro area of San Francisco....

I saw that this when I was looking up a movie I saw John in this weekend.

I hope the BBC isn`t turning American with all the crossover between shows. Come on guys, all things American isn`t necessarily a good thing.

If the Beeb turns American, where can I run for refuge and good programming?

This is just a personal theory, but is it possible that Sam never became a cop, but all that has happened is all in his head while in a coma?? And it is possible Sam is just a child in the present day?

The 2006 "reality" had too much of a cop show quality about it and the 1973 reality also had that cop show quality to it as well. The inconsistencies and mistakes may be intentional since all this is happening in Sam`s mind and it never really happened at all.

I know when I dream I get details wrong. So maybe the production mistakes are part of the bigger picture....

Ofcourse I only remember one movie which the studios deemed needing redubbing with American actors and that was Mad Max (the first movie). Have any other British or Commonwealth films been treated thus?

I am American and no offense taken. I suppose only those who live in New England should know what roundabouts are. I slightly remember seeing them when we did a road trip through there when I was a kid.

It absolutely drives me mad when the studios take UK ideas and "Americanize" them just to save the quick buck and make more money.

Studio execs: Guys, use the dozen braincells among you to think up new ideas for entertainment. Do something different for a change. Be ORIGINAL for once.

I don`t think anyone in NYC or Hollywood could have come up with the concept of LOM or sustain the energy through out the first series. A US series would have resorted to "didn`t they do things strangely or funnily back then?". LOM just had the right touch.

I thought Funland was also an exceptional production. That was original. What does it mean that it was shown on BBC Three rather than BBC ONE?

And to answer Dr. 42%er I make my home in California, just outside Frisco. Not strangers to cop shows here. I`d like to think we were home to one of the best ever made...Streets of San Francisco.

Life on Mars

So what do you guys think of this series? I just discovered it on one of the download sites. Do you think it is good or is it all gimmick?

Not being into the Olympics and network fare, I was looking for something different and entertaining to watch and I found this gem.

Admittedly I`m not from the UK so I am not familiar with what police tactics were like int he early 1970s. But I am finding the show easy to follow.

Dr. Who

Just got around to watching the Dr. Who episodes featuring Chris Eccleston as well as the Dr. Who Confidential episodes and found myself very impressed. The production value of both series is better than most cinematical products or making of documentaries I have seen.

So is it just me or was this last series of Dr. Whos better written and acted than those in the past?

I only have a glancing knowledge of the Doctor and have managed to miss all the past episodes on PBS. In the US (from where I am writing) I find our tv lacking in both imagination and rather stupid. There are only a handful of shows which I can follow week to week.

I am not saying the last series of Dr Who was perfect, but it was better than most shows for adults we get here. I look forward to seeing David Tennant as the new Doctor. I also hope we get to see the planet Barcelona.

RE: House Region 2 DVD?

So what does the ordinary person think of House? I`ve read the comments made by professionals paid to give their opinions.

I like the show as a whole, but I have a problem with Hugh`s accent. It`s not a big problem since it doesn`t keep me from tunining in week after week. The accent HL used in Stuart Little was less distracting though.
